I have a Rimor Kivi based on a 1995 Ford Trasit 120, but cannot work out the gross max weight, the plate is all in German it seems to have one line that is tare weight of 2720 kg
and below that its says 3720 kg but nothing to say what that is, can I make the assumption that the 3720 kg is the max weight?

Beneath the 3720 is
1-1300
2-1635
Which I took to be the front and rear axels but they add up to 2935:ROFLMAO:

Hi I would guess its thus:
3720 is your train weight
2720 is your gross weight
1 is max front axle weight
2 is max rear axle weight

Your max axle weights will always add up to more than your gross weight to allow for uneven loading.

Hi

The tare weight (2720 kg) is the vehicle weight without any load, fuel or passengers. ie.. dry ex factory.

tare 2
noun
an allowance made for the weight of the packaging in order to determine the net weight of goods.
• the weight of a motor vehicle, railroad car, or aircraft without its fuel or load.

I would think that 3720kg is the gross vehicle weight.

So .. Payload is then 1,000kg
Subtract, fuel + water + gas bottles + passengers to calculate spare payload.

the other two are, as you say, the front and rear axles max load.

I could be wrong ;but if the gross weight is 2720kg then the van weight as basic without water people etc minus the gross weight would give the payload.
And the difference between the gross weight and the 3720kg is as said the train or trailer weight 1000kg.

Be careful, in France as in Germany and Italy what you call the "Tare weight" (we say empty weight) included the driver, 80 % of the fuel tank, fresh water tank full, and the basic equipment. If you add some accessories (as antenna or TV) their weight must be add to the tare weight. the ford 190 (with DRW) is limited to 3500 kg full loaded (passenger, accessories etc..). the legal maximum weight for Ford 190 everywhere is 3500 kg ! For the Ford transit 120 I think is your 2720 kg full loaded ! The 3720 is the total weight rolling with trailer full loaded (= the USA GVWR) ! If you add the front axle and the rear axle the result is the maximum technical weight, is not the legal weight but the maximum weight limits of safety(security) !!

Can't remember ;)
Hi I am 99% certain 3720 is the gross weight (loaded to max):thumb:
Be aware if you passed your test after 97 you can only drive 3.5 ton so in that van you would be 220 kg over your limit :cry:

i agree 100% with Olley.....

the 2 axle weights always add up to more than the gross weight to allow for uneven loading but the gross (2720kg) MUST NEVER be exceeded.
if you have the rear axle at the absolute max figure (1365kg)you must deduct the extra from the front axle ie: rear axle = 1635kg then front axle must weigh 1085kg. total of the two = 2720kg gross.

the highest figure....3720kg is the total weight of the van + any trailer including cargo....you can tow a trailer with a total mass of 1000kg,
INCLUDING any load . ie: van = 2720kg + loaded trailer = 1000kg = train weight of 3720kg

highly unlikely Jim......mine weighs 3850kg gross with a payload of just 650kg.

as someone else has said.....ALL transits have a 3500kg gross.

Thanks to all the replies, I have now thinned things out a bit and will get the van reweighed, I think the 2730 is probably the correct weight to aim for as suggested and at the moment I am 2830, and thats with 1/2 tank water and 1/2 tank diesel, I bought a soft box for the roofrack which has leaked like a sieve so will remove that as well saving about 50 kgs .

As I have moved from a 2 bed house to the van you can imagine all the stuff I had loaded, this needs to be thinned as well.

Thanks again for the input, will keep you informed of the results:thumb:

If the maximum load is around 2700 kg how can the maximum of the two axle loads be less than 3000 kg?
