We like Navarras Crianza(I think that is what its called).

Bought our first bottle in the shop at a site in Navarette which is near Haro.

Not seen it in the shops over here, but drunk in the Rioja region it tastes pretty good, although I am no wine buff.

Not seen it in the shops over here, but drunk in the Rioja region it tastes pretty good.

And bring it home and it loses it's magic.

Bit like buying CDs off the performers you hear on the sea front in the warm Mediterranean evening.

We had a good meal at Terete in Haro, famous for its lamb. You can also go for a wine tasting and tour at the Bodega Lopez de Heredia - the visitor centre was designed by Zaha Hadid, very interesting - and a very enjoyable tour!

Love Haro, and Rioja, keep missing out on a wine tour though, must give ourselves more time this year. Great tapas too, can't recommend anywhere as our companions didn't like our favourite place and we weren't too keen on theirs lol
The rioja we bought tasted just as good at home as it did there.

We bought a bottle of 'pata negra' in Mercadona, and it was really nice, so bought a dozen bottles, really, really nice. Brought a few home and they have evaporated somehow. And we paid 3 euros per bottle.
Popped to Benidorm in april, and there it is again in Mercadona, at 2.50 euros.
It is available on line at £12 per bottle, but I think i will wait until i go to Spain in the winter.

Tapas in Legrono two areas of tapas bars about 50 in each just try the special in each one they all have a speciality
Tour of winery at Marques de Riscal out of Haro. Muga winery in Haro interesting tour they make their own barrels also Cvne winery and Pomal. If you are in the area try to visit laguardia a fantastic village almost totally undermined with wine caves. A posh winery to visit there is Ysios also Campilla but don't miss out on the small ones in the streets of Laguardia. Been to rioja 3 times on wine trips its a fantastic area. (going to the southern rhone ourselves nex week bring on the gigondas!!)
