So today I learned that when your fire bangs out it can make the flue top pop off. Our fire bangs out often so will most likely be the reason why it's vanished.
Is it easy to clean a S3002 fire?
Has anyone done it thats got some pictures and can post a walk through please.

Again ..try looking in that raft of paperwork you have..I'll bet there is something on maintenance of the fire in there..

As Simon @dabhand keeps telling people RTFM :D

Would have to agree.lol... We will be accused of ganging up again..
Dave newell would be the man to cover that but seem to remember him saying that the fires on a plinth were a bit more complicate.. think their fire is on a plinth...

I read it last night when I was looking for the flue size. If it told me how to clean it I wouldn't be asking:)

Strange that because I seem to remember reading something in your paperwork about cleaning the fire and checking the ignitor etc.. There was certainly enough information there to do a strip down ..and told you what seals you would need to renew...
What more would you need lol

Well if you read it you will know what to do then.:D
I only read about installation. Never saw anything about cleaning.

the most you are going to be able to do without gear to check pressures and flue gas content etc is mechanically clean things like the air intake, combustion space, general cleanliness, so those instructions would be a good start..imho

It needs servicing professionally, or at least by someone who knows what they're doing. Its not a complicated fire but you will either need to get under the motorhome to access the air intake or if it is mounted on a plinth then the fire will need removing to gain access. The latter option will involve disconnecting the gas supply to the fire and the flue connection which MUST have a new silicon O ring installed.

Thanks folks. Looks like we will need toget it done by a gas man.
wot do ya mean bangs out ??
I seem to think it happens when its windy but maybe a coincidence. It sounds as if its getting starved of oxygen or gas, something anyone then makes a really loud bang and fire goes out and I need to restart it.

sounds like air intake or flue is obstructed have look under, see if you've got a dollop of mud over your intake but don't take chances with gas /cabon dioxide its sneaky stuff and you can't smell CO2. you don't wanna wake up dead lol
get the gas man in

Your talking about gas and products of combustion both of which need handling with care. Call a motorhome engineer as you will need specialist equipment to check for leaks and funes.

even worse you cant smell CO either, Carbon Monoxide is the serious one, although too much CO2 could be bad

get it done professionally Sandra, after you have made sure there isn't a mouse nest in the intake maybe :)(y)

FIT A CO ALARM! if you have known faulty gas appliances especially. saw them in home bargains the other day for just £7.50 so not expensive but potentially a life saver

better still, have all the gas appliances serviced AND still fit a CO alarm

We have a CO2 fitted, and yes we will get a proper engineer to service it. Might be the wind to blame but at least it will be peace of mind.
