Hi All,

I know this is an old question, but I'm too lazy to search for the thread.

What do people use as a substitute for the pink flushing agent in the loo?

I use a bottle of Pine Disinfectant (NO BLEACH) nice smell when you flush. Pete

Surely not in the rinse tank - that goes in the cassette! Bio liquid is much better & easier to use.

We don't actually have a flushing tank - it comes from the main tank.

Don't have a flush tank, .. but we keep a spray bottle with diluted Pink for spraying around the bowl..

I would caution using anything other than the approved Thetford Pink

bleaches, Milton, (bleach by another name) and disinfectants may damage the seals.. and or the pump..

For the little cost of using the proper gear IMO it's not worth the risk..

It's not the cost issue its the black gunk that comes with using the pink , it's not fit for purpose .
The one Milton tab to ten litres of water is very dilute and does the job splendidly !

I have read a few times now about black gunk/residue associated with using the pink rinsing agent.
I have caravanned/motorhomed for 25 years, and have never had this issue.
Am I doing something wrong?

I agree Jim, been using the 'pink' religiously for six years, but finding it difficult to source in Southern Spain. So need a viable alternative.

Understand now.. surprised you can't source in Spain..

can only suggest you just spray the bowl with a mild disinfectant rather than risking it in the tank..

Do you think that there is a realistic danger of damage to the plastic inner parts of the cassette from heavily diluted non-bleach disinfectant?
