Info about ADAC please...we are new and innocent! (1 Viewer)

Hello dear Motorhomers,

We are going abroad (outside UK) for the first time this Saturday 4th of April! We need a breakdown insurance...I read all the posts about ADAC which seems very appealing. We are just a bit hesitant as it is not a English company (I speak a few langages but not German). We need more info like :

1. What is the difference between their Plus Membership and the standart one?
2. Can we subscribe and pay via their website?
3. Can we get all the documents quickly (within 4 days!)?
4. Is the booklet mentionned in the Terms & Conditions in English?

1, plus gives you a lot more cover than standard.

2, no...you cant join via the website.

3, i doubt it as it has to come from germany after its been processed.

4, not sure but i dont think it is.

i tried to join just last week and had to email them as the postcode and bank details were rejected. evidently they cant set up a direct debit on a uk bank account.

you have to ring them and join using a debit card, credit cards aint accepted or do as they told me to do.......

print off the membership form,

fill in the bits about you but not the bank details section,

write a covering letter containing your name address and card number + 3 digit security code + start and expiry dates.

Thank you very much Papajohn...

My husband called Adac today and he was told by a friendly guy (but with poor English) that he coudn't pay by debit card on the phone, but only by bank transfer...That will cost us £25 for the Iban fee!
Plus, it seems that the Plus Membership with partner is 98 euros. So it's not so cheap anymore...and we still don't know what to do!

still cheaper than a UK based company if you want euro cover as well.
