The bit on the right was lying on the floor and must've fallen off. Also found 2 small batteries.I am assuming the batteries go where I have put them but how do I know if the alarm is on the correct way or upside down. I don't even know if the batteries are the correct way up or if the thing is even part of the AT alarm??

Hi Sandra,

I'm with @treetops1 ,ie, it looks like a portable alarm which has been added as an extra. Have you had it working before today? Is there a switch to alarm it, before opening the door to activate the alarm?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Theres no switch on it. I did think it looked like one of those wee window alarm things but without a switch it cant be. Havent heard it sound at all.

Looking ar your photo there looks like there might be a reed switch on the right.. It would be enclosed in a small glass tube... If that's what it is then that's the side that should be next to the magnet mounted on the door...
But would still expect a switch somewhere so that you could arm/disarm it..
If it is a reed switch you should be able to see or hear it work if you place it next to the magnetic bit on the frame...

Hello Sandra, if you have never heard it make a sound then the batteries are probably dead.

Is it possible you have refitted it upsidedown as to me that looks like a mgnetic reed switch on the far right which shold probably be nearer to the magnet on the door?

I assume it has a cover and should have a switch somewhere unless it has a pin which would fif to the door by a piece of thread and be set off when the pin is pulled.

EDIT Snap ... @andy63 got in first

It WAS upside down and too high.

The thin wire type thing at bottom left is a magnetic reed switch, the bit in the door is a magnet.

The reason it didnt work....the batteries are back to front or one is the wrong way round, one correct.

And it should have a blank cover.

That is also part of your WIRELESS alarm system.
that is a stand alone PIR....also known as a movement or motion detector.

Same thing as you would have in your house....only uglier.

I have a similar, iff not the same, alarm.

a BLACKWATCH system.

Conplete crap and totally unreliable.

If i were to replace it i would buy a £20 job from the local sunday market trader and increase my protection many times over.

@irnbru , don't bin anything its all part of an alarm system. I have a Gemini alarm on my Motorhome which is similar, it has the hab door sensor and the motion detector which is all linked wirelessly to your alarm.
Do you have a seperate alarm fob? The batteries may have gone flat in both detectors so they would not work but the alarm would not know this.
If you do have a alarm fob the best thing to do would be to take the motorhome to a alarm fitter and have the alarm checked out.
