Been around the block a few times😉
Is it possible to buy an adapter to convert a small grill like this to run off a butane bottle ?

I know the the gas cartridges are cheap but don't really want them in the van if it's possible.

they do run on butane , thats the gas you would burn in them .
i can only say try a google or ebay .
there are kits to fill the cartridges i imagine there is an adaptor to use bigger bottles .

Can't see a fitting that will fit on the end of the grill.
Looks like it's back to the drawing board:(

will run at bottle pressure as a cartridge one would . size of container wouldnt make any difference.
the original cartridge didnt have a regulator.
many gas stoves dont have them . lets them work in strong winds . or up mountains etc.
have a few here that dont need regs . far better working than regulated ones .

The whole point of having a 'suitcase grill' like that is so that it is totally portable ... the cartridges are cheap - we can get a pack of 4 for £3.99 at B&M stores (or even cheaper at some MH shows) and they last for ages.

The cartridges can be easily stored in the gas locker which is where I keep ours and have the bonus that if you have a problem with your van's gas system you can still use it to cook on (or make a cuppa whilst waiting for the ferry when youre gas has been shut off as required). We have one of those and I can confirm they are great - we've had loads of different types of grills/bbqs (both charcoal and gas) and must say that these type are very very good indeed.

Thanks for the replys (y)

Was hoping to use this grill when I go fishing for Mackerel etc
to cook them outside.

If I could use the bbq gas point on the van that would be a bonus

Although Chausson have a barbecue as a drop down fitting on the side of some of their vans, I can recall occasions when my barbecues have singed my eyebrows as they flared up from dripping fat. That could prove interesting up the side of your van, adding to the decals a sooty hot spot.
