I heard that too but we are not a member. Used the toll last year, was something like "£14 if memory serves me right.

Yes but seriously there's nowt wrong with m6 in the middle of the day or night, drove a van up and down it every day for ten years, very rare got held up for more than 5 mins. That costs nowt(y)

We used the toll, came off at at automated toll, and was unable to work out how to get the caravan club discount ...so paid a huge amount for only 12 miles

Yep used it 3 times this year, just keep to the manned lanes and have your cc card at the ready.

Show CC card at cash booth, pay £5.50, drive around horrendous roadworks on M6, feel smug and not much lighter in pocket! I know, I did it yesterday coming South.

Always use it now, twice so far this year. Saves a bit of nailbiting.

aren't we just helping the Government's sneaky, deceitful procurement of bringing in motorway tolls on top of the road tax, fuel surcharge, 20% vat we already pay

We're just making a long 300 mile journey to Liverpool a bit easier ;)

I'm a newbie
Personally I like & use the toll road all the time :). It's nice to have space on a motorway, the only downside is it isn't long enough as I'd pay all the way to Dover (y)

The saving with the CC has just made my mind up to join as I will get the membership money back quite quickly :D

Thanks Antony

could be wrong, but I thought it was privately funded, built and operated .. the only revenue the Gov get will be VAT on the toll charge..

If we want to get anywhere south in a reasonable time our alternatives at present are M6 and the roadworks, M6 then M6 toll, or M6 then at jcn 15 A50 then M1/A1. If we want anywhere South west it used to be M6/M5, but more recently has been M6 M6 toll M42 then M5 - if I can hit M6/M5 by 6a.m. or after 7pm I would probably go M6/M5, but as has been said to sit in queues is just a waste of the short time left to have fun (fun being relative of course). That's our personal preference as we are CC members, it's expensive without that discount. It's also all a gamble.
