You got me reminiscing about my Lambretta with all the chrome and mirrors, union jack on the back of the parka, those were the days.
Saw one a couple of weeks ago, immaculate.

I've had a few Vespas in my youth, and a Lambretta "project" which I never really got motivated to finish and gave away. Part of me would like another scoot, but I think I'm now too addicted to large capacity bikes.

But still have a hankering for an Arthur Francis Stage tuned GP250 Lambretta, if they are still going...

some thing to bear in mind in the case of lambrettas is that up to the early seventies they were made in italy by innocentti . these are now seen as classics and are highly sought after by collectors and born again mods alike . as such mint or restored ones can fetch 7k and more ! i used to have a couple of mid 60s sx 200 s and these are now seen as the holy grail of lambrettas . after about 1972 if i remember correctly and a short spell of being owned by british leyland of all people, innocentti went bust [no surprise with bl involved] . the tooling was then bought and set up in india and all future models were built under the sil brand [scooters india ltd]and as such, at the moment these are not seen as favourable by the purists hence they can be found slightly cheaper . there is a company [chinese probably] that now makes lambretta looking replicas based on a modern 4 stroke rev and go engine [the originals were 2 stroke of course and required a fair bit of fettling !!] good luck in your search . regards garry

Hi Paul I have a lamb 1963,TV175 in storage for when grandson is old enough (bought by his dad -again to store)(y)When I researched it with the lambretta owners club they told me the date it was made and allsorts plus offered 3k for it as a project  so I hope your pockets are deep and you find one ---If I was you though I would try riding one first -you have to be a contortionist just to change gear :)then when you hit a small pothole they throw you off -bloody death traps if you ask me :D

If you've never ridden one, they are an acquired taste, just be careful you don't fall into the clutches of the "Comedy Mods"

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
Started off with a Lambretta LD 150 in 1966, followed by a succession of Li's, and then a TD 200, (SX), which I converted to a 225 cc with a Wal Philips fuel injector on an Arthur Francis conversion. My only Vespa was a 150 cc Sportique.......Wish I had it now, they cost a fortune!
Very happy to advise Paul, or will even come along to 'vet' one if your buying. Try and get an original Lambretta, and not a 'GP', (made in India), nor any of the later models. (y)(y)(y)

Owned a lambetta Vega was out on it one day mid 80s and a lad offers me a handsome profit for it sold it there and then. Also was given a tv175 by a neighbour took it home got it running cleened it up. It had my uncles name on the old green log book because he was a bike salesman. I sold that too, a couple of mates said your regret that one day and they was right.

His dad bought it for him (to put away /investment) before he died -so it's in my care and I hope to persuade him(grandson) to either keep it in wraps or sell it -anything but ride it ;):)

Just realised you put 1968, thats when i had mine aged 16.

Must be about the same age - I used to have a Lambretta TV 175. Took my test so I could 'legally' take my girlfriend on the back, so glad I did, the test was a doddle and of course entitled me to ride any bike.

Always a "proper" motorcyclist myself, though bought and imported a vespa ss90 a few years back as work was slow and to make a few quid to cover work deficit , sold it recently about 4 years too late!

Don't ride now but still keen on the racing side
