Depends on your requirements, we stayed near to the lake at a very family oriented site, but depends if that is what you are after?

2 years ago we stayed at "Camping Butterfly" cracking site with all you could want and a short walk into Peshera del Garda where are lots of shops, restaurants ect
You can also catch the ferries to other places on the lake, we went for 3 days and stayed a week !!

Depends on your requirements - there's no shortage of them, especially just south of Lazise.

Up at Torbole there's a MH only site with a limited duration stay that's good for visiting Riva del Garda.

If you're visiting theme parks we found Camping Amici di Lazise really handy as there are shuttle buses that stop near there, and it's next door to a couple of the parks and a music-themed eat all you can diner. You also have the option of stopping aire style for a reduced fee on their car park but it looked a bit hot to me. It's easier getting a bus to Verona from that part of the lake.

Lazise has the mother of all markets if you like that sort of thing.

Thanks andrewjw, always do search but its nice to get recommendations from people who have been.

Thanks so much everybody I love this site, people are so helpful. We would prefer ACSI, we have paid for some expensive sites along the way, and had some very nice camperstops but its nice to get a bit back here and there. We are just us two so don't need all the family oriented stuff anymore. Butterfly looks good and descenzano. Handy to be able to walk to restaurants\bars\shops. Thanks so much. Be there in a few days so will post where we got to(y)

3rd year and still enjoying it
Spent a couple of weeks last year at Camping Serenella just outside of Bardolino. pitch was virtually on the lake and there is a cycle track outside which gets you into Bardolino or Garda in minutes . very friendly and helpful staff although was a bit busy due to us being there in mid July . There is also an Aire type car park next door that a lot if people were using costing 1Euro per night !!!

Italy was a test for us in our 11.5 metre RV plus 4 metre trailer, but we did Venice, Rome, Florence, and Lake Garda. Fornella was a great site, we used the back entrance but 9 metre would not be a problem.

We stayed at Camping Serenella, a big ACSI camp midway between Bardolino and Garda. Lovely location - right on the lake. Cycle path access direct from site. Bardolino and Garda lovely, 1km from site in each direction on cycle / walk path. Trips on the lake from Bardolino and Garda.

We stayed there in June last year and got the last but one pitch. Right outside the camp shop which was brilliant - as long as you didn't mind the keep fit in the mornings and the Groovy Club for an hour from 7 to 8pm. Didn't bother us at all - we were usually either eating an ice cream or drinking a cocktail in Bardolino at the time! The site is huge so you could probably escape the Groovy Club anyway but it's no big deal if you have to pitch there! (y)

We stopped in a campsite in Riva, right near the lake. Can't remember the name of it ( it was in 2000) when we was towing the caravan. The thing that sticks in my mind was having to wear the bathing caps when u went in the pool. Hilarious:)

Oh God, the dreaded kid's club. Our collective name for them all now is Club Bimbi Bembi, ie you're dozing in your folding chair with your second glass of the local brew, soaking up some mellow evening rays when the PA system springs to life with "Hallooooooooooo everybodys, bonjour buongiorno guten abend itsa Club Bimbi Bembi..." accompanied by some dire continental pop hit on full volume and the sound of screaming children. That's the point when I truly appreciate the value of aires. :)

Well, biked into peshiera del garda this morning, 3.5 mile, had a delicious gelato yum yum, called into camping butterfly again and we have managed to get 7 nights from Saturday. We will chill out here till then. Not so much chill though, its hot! Dip in the lake coming on next.

belle italia left there a few days ago lovely site but large 18e with acsi full service pitches right on the lake some of the pitches also large pitches but i doubt if many of the sites on garda are not up to quality
the aire in pescheria del garda is expensive 15e a night and you will also pay 1e for the showers at that price stay on a camp instead of a parking lot :)
