The new motorhome is 7.5 m , does anyone have steadies? and in your opinions yes or no?

Ours is 7.4m and has them. Put them down sometimes when I remember. Never notice any difference when I don't.

Waste of time and weight IMO. Wouldn't pay for them or bother with them if they weren't already there.

We've used our corner steadies once in Ten years (when we first got the van)

I agree with Nick, they are waste of time/weight/money.

yes, have them and use them on sites..

stops the van rocking when it's windy, and also when your partner turns over in bed..

I guess it depends on where the bed is.. ours is rear transverse, when not down you feel the van rocking, even when someone walks about

Its an Apache 700 and i do feel it if someones mooching about or up for the loo in the night. We will use the rear lounge as a bed i would think so just thought it might make a difference.

Sorry not got the new one yet but felt movement in current van which is smaller.

Use ours all the time.(y)
I think it depends on the van and its layout.
Ours has a very long overhang and we sleep in the bed made up from the U shaped lounge.
It stops people walking past getting embarrassed

Not long enough!
Had them in the last van and also this latest one, but have not used them once , but then being used to boats I have to admit to quite liking a bit of wind motion(y)

Only put ours down once (7.6M) and forgot to put them up, they make quite a good plough. Never used since, they're just a nuisance really, can be removed to save weight but not bothered so far.

Nuisance heavy items which get scraped off in foreign parts with nasty graunchy noises and took ages to unbolt! Glad to get rid of them - just put put with the slight rocking; its part of the FUN experience!

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
Our's is 7.0 mtr. with long overhang. Have steadies and use them if stopping for a couple of days or more. We have rear door and really feel the van move when I enter.. maybe time to lose some weight myself

Our van is 7.2m with a long overhang, it does move quite a bit when walking about, but didn't opt for steadies didn't want to lug another 10kg around & if I did have them & use them I know I would forget to put them up.

I have a set of 4 lightweight aluminium axle stands, put 2 at the front on the jacking points and 2 at the back, either end of the towball bar.
Just nip them up, not trying to take any weight, and it keeps the van from rocking when getting in or out or when moving about.
Wife has a balance problem so it helps a lot.

Our first van didn't have any. It rocked a bit, sometimes, so we considered buying some of the ones similar to axle stands but they weren't tall enough.
The current van had wind down steadies already fitted when we bought it and we use them almost every time we are pitched.

They make nice grooves in the surface, remember to put the handle through the steering wheel as an aid memoire.

We also have an Apache 700 SE and we usually steady the rear (sometimes front also)for a really comfortable night.
I bought the really lightweight screw up steadies which take a minute to put under and lightly screw up to the chassis - great stability. I use a small square off cut of wood underneath to spread the weight and voila.
Broken Link Removed
Don't be put off by the lowers being plastic/composite they are more than strong enough, and four in a set too.(y)

Hope it helps,

Trikeman.;)

Same as the ones I use, work well.
