This has been on my mind for a few years but I never bothered to take it any further
But.....
We are currently sitting in the aire at Josselin, it's raining but we came for the boulangerie!
Anyway? Out of 16 vans here, 6 have towels wrapped around the seats
This seems to be quite common, but why? Am I missing a trick? I don't see any cars with towels wrapped around the seats, is it because motor home drivers are a sweaty or incontinent bunch or is it to protect the seats from something else? If the latter, why not just buy seat covers?
Why towels?

Seat covers are a bugger to get on and off !!
We have white covers ( SHE picked them !!! ) and I speak from experience :groan:

Maybe they've been out in the rain and they're drying them off!:getmecoat:

The towels aren't hanging at the back of the seats, they are on the seats and tied at the back. They are all matching towels too! It seems quite common, and non of the vans here appear to have dogs.
We have two dogs ourselves, but we only put covers on the seats if we go out and leave the dogs home alone
These people are driving with the towels on

Could well be that they are just using them as seat protectors and then they also have a spare towel if needed. I use a couple of throws over the seats as seat protectors. Easy to take off and shake outside to get rid of any crumbs. If it gets a little chilly at night they can also be thrown over the duvet as an extra layer.

You have reminded me that I do still need to sew a couple of bits of velcro on them to secure them around the headrest as they do dislodge fairly easily.

Maybe it's to stop the sun fading the upholstery. Something we rarely have to use in Glasgow.

I have an old t-shirt over the base of my seat, it stops the dye from my jeans colouring the material.

I've got some leopard skin patterned fluffy ones - I originally got them from a car boot sale for my Smart but since I've sold it they've come in handy for the camper - the only thing I had to do to make them fit was make a gap in the seam on one side to slot the arm rest through and unpick the seam on the other to go round the other one with some Velcro to fix the seam underneath it.

We use woolly look alike covers for the cab seats and throws on the bench seats. I think the material on the cab seats is not as hard wearing as car seats, hence the seat covers. Also my lot are messy and spill/drop food :(

Don't know about seat covers but have you been up the tower in Josselin- very good views from the top-if it's not still raining of coarse
