Just joined after lurking a bit, this seems to be the nicest motorhome group by far, hope to get to a rally soon.
Just spent the last 3 days pulling my fridge out for a service, seems Hymer put the fridge in and built the rest of the 'van round it, still, should be good for another 25 years (old van)
Who new retirement could be so busy...

In our old Hymer B544; 4 or 5 times we pulled our fridge out for service as it didn't have the lower vent. So cleaning the burner meant, undoing the cooker top and its gas supply (what a pain that is) then undoing everything else so we can slide the thing out to work on it. As you say, then you cannot get it out without removing the windscreen, so you have to work in a cramped space.

Then some smart-arse at Vanbitz showed me how we'd been doing it wrong all these years and we could access the bottom vent at the back of the fridge just by undoing 4 screws in the bumper

Enjoy your retirement and welcome to the Fun (y)

What a friendly bunch, and someone else in Glasgow. think I just spent £10 wisely.
Yes, didn't even realise the fridge doesn't fit through the door!, I just worked on it in the van, dismantled and cleaned the 12V switch, cleaned the burner and pipe and replaced the fan. Discovered the very stiff cooker taps can be dismantled and greased, big difference.
(Please don't work on gas unless your a "competent person")
