Looks OK but just remember that if you plan to spend 2 or 3 nights at each stop - in a 14 day trip that leaves you with about 4 days driving at 185km per day - easily doable but it needs to be built into your itinerary.

Good luck in the land of Gerdunk Gerdunk driving :)

while i often here of problems on that stretch of Belgian/Lille motorway. we travel it every year (last 12) on way to Italy and its always been fine and that in July/August. Can always check road works etc,,, on line? Antwerp part has always caused us more problems, avoid rush hour!

as for route being to much, no not at all, its only just over 700km

No problems with the distances, let us know why you chose the stops, what are we missing?

AS you are ending up in Kortrijk, are you by any chance going to look at some Hymers?:)

I chose the stops because I fancied going to Luxembourg city. Thought a round route would be ok. It actually involves 4 countries :) But I was worried that we had about 3 hour drives between stops and panic set it that I have over stretched on our first trip. I have only had to pay for the Bruges campsite ahead of time so if there are better stops then please let me know. It is all new to me so have no idea what I am doing. :)

Do you plan to use sites? if so I can't help as we almost exclusively use Aires.

3 hours between stops isn't much. That's what we aim for when we have the dogs: short runs then park up and explore. Drive for 2/3 hours then stop for 2/3 days seems like an ideal plan to me.

Your route is only about 450 miles total so roughly Newbury to Leeds and back. I bet you wouldn't think twice about doing that in a weekend, or even a day if you had to.

The hardcore drivers round these parts don't think you've gone anywhere if you drive for less than 18 hours non stop (y)

Your southern stretch goes not too far from champagne why not stray a bit further south and do some tasting?

Brugge is well worth 2 or 3 days on its own. Shame you have paid for a site there. The Aire is very good and much closer to the city centre - 10 minutes walk and you are in the middle.

In our case cheapness does not come into really. We prefer Aires because they are much closer to interesting cities, towns and villages where we can walk in to look at them. Campsites are usually much further out. OK when you have a caravan/car combo but no good with a motorhome.

On and off for many years.
Have a great time.

I don't like to travel for more than four hours a day as a rule even in the UK although I have done much further. For me a couple of nights somewhere is a good idea as you can really explore.

The cassette is a quick and simple job to do and it is all your own "doings" (well yours and his) - not a nasty chore at all, especially of you use the bio-laundry detergent which masks the smell. It's best done on a regular basis so it never becomes heavy to lift. Take every opportunity you can to empty it before you move on, don't put the job off or you will regret it. I add a cap full of liquid (the cheapest will do, just make sure you like the smell) every day into the body of the cassette and another cap full if I think I can detect it. Bio-liquid is cheap and easily obtained..... Aldi and Lidl stuff does well.

Am I missing something here?

Via Michelin map shows Brugge to Leper.....42 miles.!!!!!
Yes but if you click on op¡s original post & open map you will see he is doing a huge anti-clockwise
route via antwerp/maastricht/Luxembourg/mezieres etc.
