Today I made a start on the relay The day started with me emptying it /insulation boards fridge/freezer and a few batteries -Then removed the bulkhead and one side lot of panels This then left me clear to start insulating the van.Firstly I did it in a bubble insulation followed by Kingspan and lots of gun applied foam -There are a lot of big voids on the relay which were stuffed with bits of KS and then injected with the foam -

Good work Terry, is this a start to finish thread, i just love watching these as i would love to do one myself one day, being a builder for 30 years i recon i could manage doing a conversion to a good standard , so i watch you guys and pick up tips

Are you filling the wall to roof voids? Or is there a reason you have left them foam free?? Cables?

Yes Pete this one is going to be my own -- I was expecting to get it all insulated but only managed to do one side and most of the roof so target for tomorrow is finish the roof insulation and other side then get the base roof boards ready for the finished roof boards -I am going to leave the 45 degree angled bit at top of roof line to run some wires through after I make a decision on the layout I want If Paul does not come down and tell me how many wires he wants and where then it will be onto my preferred option of running wires through trunking -1 on the floor and one through the wall units -at least that way we can get to them all and add/remove as we go along -Paul will moan a lot but ask if I care

Yes Toots left for cables but will be getting stuffed with the silver bubble insulation before the cables go in or I am thinking along the lines of trunking along the top cupboards I DON'T DO WIRES MUCH SO THIS IS PAUL'S problem -I ought to set up a video camera for Saturday so you could hear him moan at me for not putting in all the wires He will go on one from 9 ish until at least dinner time

I think I have until May 21 st to get it completed or close to complete -I intend to use it for Johns (Jaws) meet -so long as the loo and showers working I can easy get by -I hate to put my name down for a meet and not make it

It's a biggish van JJ -the Caddy maxi only took four days this will take at least 3 week ends

If I was doing the electrics it may take a year and a half -then it may not work You know I love things with wire on Steve

Not a great start this morning -went out cleared the van and got all the dangly bits of foam cut off sweep up -found out that although some of the big cavities were full of foam they are only semi full now -it's as if the foam has not got enough air to make it go off and has shrunk back -anyway filled them with foam again and will inspect them before I board over-Normally I fill them and board over so never really had chance to look at it -lesson learned -It's bloody cold and windy up here today and just as I got sorted it started to rain/hailstone and blow so now on a coffee break

i had a similar problem terry i shoved the nozzle deep down the bottom of a door and assumed the foam had set three months later i couldnt open the door and uncured liquid had ozzed out and stuck the door to the rubber seal

Struggling to get the windows Had to stop at 4 today to take some covers to a mates but picked up some veltrim while I was there -- Still not decided on the layout yet I still like the one I had in the Ambulance /front lounge -but I still like the wet room idea across the back but those wheel arches look very big
Paul wants me to have a fixed rear bed and garage -if I go rear lounge / happens then it will be a very similar layout to yours --We will discuss it on Saturday Get some tape on the floor and see how it looks

Todays update got all the insulation in apart from the doors and above the cab -Also got the roof boards in place ready to stick the finished ceiling boards onto it Also got the wall sides ready for finished boards-pics below

Today's update all insulation done -Now got to wait for a decision on Saturday morning on the layout Pauls already started to moan about wires and where/how he get's them to where he wants them so he's asked me to stop working until we make the decision on Saturday --
Not as easy as you may think because we not only have to decide on the layout but where things like heating,boiler and water has to go -so it looks like things are on hold until I make my mind up and we both decide where things need to live once the layout is decided on -SHOULD BE FUN LISTENING to the arguments Sat morning

A bit windy and the odd spot of rain but nothing more than a few mins -- I think I have decided on the layout but that may change
I thought about a front lounge but then Paul said about storage under a fixed rear bed -anyway I am now thinking on a couple of 4' 6" seats in the rear that make up to a fixed bed but higher for over the wheel arches with maybe a higher floor area so seating is not dangly feet time -Shower, loo partially over side sliding door with kitchen opposite-behind drivers seat with a single seat come bed making it into a 3 berth =1 x double and 1 x single -leave drivers seat as is and fit a single swivel to passenger seat removing the twin seat -Thinking as I type no need for the single bed as there would be no 3rd travel seat although the 3 rd person could sit side ways
-or at least that's where I am at the moment

On a serious note it looks a cracking van and know it will turn out brilliantly. ..don't know how you work so fast...

Cannot see a problem I have not put any finished boards on yet and I have left him all around the top for wires -What wrong with some trunking at least that way you can get to it all when something goes wrong Nothing will go wrong with the wires it's when he joins them where it falls apart
