Hi,

I was listening to a program the other day where the discussion was about what people keep beside their bed at night for protection, and i thought a very interesting suggestion was made to have a Fire extinguisher, anyone else have one of these.

What do you keep beside your bed?

There's an obvious answer to that.....

Slightly more seriously, THE WIFE, who I might have pointed out to that whilst I would hate it to happen, my rather heavy solid body guitar lives on a stand by the bed. I really would hate it to get damaged, but it can be replaced.....

just my wife,

in seriousness the statistics of those injured trying to defend themselves by the weapon used are horrendous. if that makes sense?
in other words you attack burglar, burglar grabs weapon, then uses it against you.,

far better to sleep with a gun, that way burglar has no chance. ::bigsmile:

sorry, reading the thread further. At work we had someone have a major kick off against us staff, whilst wrestling my colleague used the fire extinguisher to good effect. However, now sacked

Bedside tackle

Besides the normal chains across the doors, large dog bowl outside the main door, I tend to have at the side of the bed a 'Air horn' and a 10,000 lumen hand torch.
The air horn, from my sailing days, is directional so only blasts those in view, the high intensity hand lamp directed at their eyes leaves them blind for a while allowing time to take action.
Scotjimland mentioned 'Viagra', I thought that was to stop you rolling out of bed when the van was not level. Are there any other uses for this stuff?.

A large Maglight torch makes a teriffic club! Seriously do NOT have a club or bat under the bed at home as the police will probably charge you if you use it against a burglar. You don't play golf or baseball in your bedroom!!! but you do need a torch in case the lights fail. In a van it's a different story. I have a hammer by the door which I use for knocking in pegs!!! thankfully I have never had to use it for anything else:thumb:.
