I think he's making sure all of the air is out of the awning he's just rolled up, it's easier if you keep your eyes closed whilst doing it

I'm really really pleased you have shown someone doing that!

It has always been my MO, in fact with the MkI husband and a large frame tent, both of us did it in unison LOL But with the MkII husband, firstly we had caravans with heavy material and plastic awnings so the weight of them squished the air out anyway but when we went tent camping with a lightweight dome tent and I tried to do it, he laughed at me and pooh poohed it !

I also automatically make sure we have not only the dustpan brush, but also a damp floorcloth to hand before folding groundsheets - truly horrible to see people not bothering to clean them and let them dry, before folding them up.
