Many thanks for replies dont know which way to go yet .If i take engine battery home to charge , apart from having no alarm . what other things would be affected .re small solar panel what o utput would be needed to keep engine battery charged during storage .

If you remove your engine battery for charging you may loose your radio code, depends on van/system, yes you may loose the alarm but the scallys are going to have to bring something to jump start it before the attempt to pinch it...:RollEyes: or you could just beg / borrow a loaner battery just to keep the alarm up and running whilst you charge yours.
Get one of these for the solar panel charger once your battery is fully charged.
