<!-- message --> Hi all, I added this to the meets callender today.

I am currently arranging a Scottish meet over the easter period.

The site identified is the Loch Ness caravan site. A site we have visited several times over the years and find the owner Bob a helpfull gentleman if not a true Scot when coming to discount arranging

The site is the only site located on the famous loch and you can spot the monster from the site. There is a little beach area for children to lobb stones in to the loch. There is ample nice walks from the site once accross a pretty main road that is well shielded from the site.

The site is within easy distance of the Loch ness tourist shops and the Fort Augustus area. There is a bus stop outside the site or of course you could take you van.
There is also fishing ot be had

The advantage of this site is there is a meeting area/bar and pool/darts meeting area whereby evening festivities can be arranged. Meals can be booked by prior arrangement.

We are only intending to do a couple of nights here as we will then with some others intend on driving up to the Westeross and remote coastal areas of Scotland. If you wished to join us for that as well it would be a pleasure to allow our Scottish motorhome guides to take you. however if you wished to just remain at Loch Ness then that would not be a problem and we may well venture back down later in the week.

Scotland is a truly remarkable place to tour in a motorhome, and for those that have not done so now is a great opportunity to visit this wonderful country..

I have provisionaly booked 5 pitches and can get more without a problem. Once I know of interested parties. Should you wish to join us then please PM me so I can add you to the list. The price at present is £16 per night inc 2 adults.
There will be a £20 deposit payable to the site once I have confirmed numbers.

link to the site is here:
Loch Ness Caravan Park - Holiday on the banks of Loch Ness

Unfortunately I am not sure if Bob can take RVs I can confirm this later, however if enough RVs would like to come I am sure we could arrange a different site in an attepmt to avoid exclusion

Not only in Ecosse..

Yorkshire Haggis Hunting Party

This once popular sport amongst the nobility and gentry of Britain and Europe reached its peak in the early 1920s with gentlemen converging on the stately homes of the North Yorkshire Moors from all around Europe during haggis hunting season.

Well good news,

If your RV is 35ft or under you can join us on our whiskey drinking Haggis hunting party.

I have confirmation from the site owner that RVs up to 35ft are most welcome.

so get your names down, they dont eat English people in Scotland anymore :ROFLMAO:

Tried that a while ago in June.

Hired a boat for a week, up and down the lot, failed to find a single monster.

Damned Scots wouldn't give me a refund either !!

I'm sorry to have to say this but there is absolutely no comparison with Lake Garda. Equally low on monsters but miles ahead on visual pleasures.

Ditto Maggiore. Ditto Como.

Well firstly you were looking in the wrong place, there is a monster in loch ness just ask my kids.:winky:

Thank you for your intersting comparison between lake Garda and Loch Ness, the Lake Garda meet was a bit dificult to plan for a weekend, hence why we have had to stick to the beauty of the British isles.:Tongue1:

I went equipped with 3 grandchildren. Scottish too. Maybe it was the rain, it was too wet for any sensible monster to put his head out of the water.

No comparison I said. I am biassed. But I do have to admit the Italians put it too far away. Worth the effort though and if some poor Roman walked to the UK we can surely manage it.

Interesting fact:
London to Loch Ness 520 miles ( Autoroute ).
London to Maggiore 720 miles.

Not as big a difference as a lot of people would take a guess at.

You are absolutely correct, there is no comparison..:thumb:

Loch Ness

Unspoiled
Safe water
Safe bathing (Nessie aside)
Good fishing
Genuine monster.
Friendly English speaking locals
Reasonably priced sites

Lake Garda

Over developed, expensive..
Unsafe water and unsafe bathing due to pollution , bacteria including salmonella,
Eat the fish at your own risk
Expensive cramped sites

Definitely NO comparison :winky:

Hi Jim you forgot to add the SUN to lake Garda, the sun appears at loch ness as often as nessie sticks her head above the water. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Paradoxically it is the perceived lack of sun and high precipitation that has kept much of Scotland pristine.. the last great wilderness of Europe.. unlike much of Europe which has been spoiled by agriculture, industry, overdevelopment and tourism.
Long may the rain last, or the rumour that it always rains..:winky:

Come on, don't spoil a nicely biassed set of figures.

I've just been working in Cowdenbeath, guy there lives for touring France with his caravan, that's some serious mileage before he even sets foot on French soil. And on limited holidays it's serious time. So we all have a different take how far is far.

We are 6 or 7 hours from Dover.

I work in Scotland a lot, north of Aberdeen I can't understand them and they can't understand me.

>> Over developed, expensive..
Vibrant, full of life, not tried to buy it so don't know about price
>> Expensive cramped sites
€14 a night we paid at Camping Butterfly, Pesciera del Garda. ACSI.

If you cannot understand Invernesians and they cannot understand you then I respectfully suggest that you get some elocution lessons. :winky::roflmto:
