Heard a drip under the van the other day..
Turned out to be the dump valve leaking by..
Tried a quick reseat ( opened and closed the thing several times ) but to know avail.
Anyone know of a fix or replacement ?
Damned if I am going to pay £79 for a small bit of plastic that for any application apart from motorhome related would proly be about £7 or £8 !!

And failing that, they are simply a valve, there must be something one could improvise with at a plumbers merchants? As long as the hoses fit, shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

I would strip and clean it first as Jim suggested. That one is on AUCTION but BIN are around £28

EDIT
Looking at the picture it looks like the metal head is crimped on so not a straight forward service

My auto dump valve is a pain it wants to drop the water whenever the temperature is lowish not 4 degrees but just cooler than 10 and it will not reseal until I put a heater on it to warm it right up. If I leave the pump on it will drop the lot. A clothes peg has been brought into action to hold it up.

Just replaced the very same valve for a friend of mine, unfortunately they are unserviceable as techno said they're about £28.

No need to strip the valve to clean it.. simply soaking overnight in a hot water/white vinegar solution will remove the limescale..

if that doesn't work.. then perhaps replacing is the only option..

but before I forked out 30 quid I would still strip and see if it could be repaired.. nothing ventured .. etc

I'm going to order one of them also. Mine works perfectly at the moment, but in a year or so when mine fails, I know I will have forgotten about this thread! :D

Mine is the same (auto) and I also use a peg to keep it closed.

I've got an electric Automatic dump valve going spare, surplus to requirements.
Swap you for a BBQ gas point.

Got a picture? Not quite sure what you mean.
I would like the one that fits into the Bodywork, so that you don't have to open the door. Can I use the one you have like that?

Hi Techno 100 and Jaws,
Looking at the valve on eBay that you showed, it looks like the one we have on our new Chausson 610 but I thought it was the frost safety valve, if it is not then we don't have a frost safety valve on our MH, can you or anyone else inform me whether Chausson don't now fit them as standard? Be pleased with the answer.

Ours is a frost valve with the red plunger, and it needs a peg to keep it up....

Can't remember ;)
IF It`s 15mm Hard plastic? then look here:-

http://www.screwfix.com/p/jg-speedfit-15esotp-emergency-shut-off-tap-15mm/13133

I am assuming it IS only a drain down valve so anything like this would do and at £4-99 a damn sight cheaper that a "pukka" job!!!!

Pete
Hi Pete the link shows a 15 mm one -almost all caravan M/H stuff is 12 mm and is almost only available through M/H suppliers / outlets --if anyone needs or wants to use 15 mm piping I have a load of 15 to 12 reducers (y)
We find using 15 mm pipes and reducing to 12 mm for pumps etc allows you to use proper taps instead of the expensive M/H versions and cheaper 15mm push fit s for Joints etc :)
