How do I turn the dam things off in the "Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply..." section

I uncheck the box in preferences click save and the tick re-appears.

There may be other ways but at the top of the postings on the right there is a bit of text saying "Watch Thread" or "Unwatch Thread" click on it and you then click the button saying unwatch.

I'm the same Lenny. The only one I want email notification of is Jim's Newsletter ..... but I can't work out how to do it either.

Then you have to do it on every thread you look at, there appears to be a bug in the software as it won't let you deselect it in the preferences, I was hoping someone had found a workround.

I uncheck the box in preferences click save and the tick re-appears.

Make certain in Preferences you have one of the radio buttons at the bottom of the page about alerts in chat selected. You may not give a stuff about this selection but the site does. It seems by default neither is selected and as a result the software reads this as a fault and won't remember any other changes you might have made in Preferences. So click on one of the radio buttons (round thing with a dot in the middle) probably "No" then go back to the top of the page and uncheck the box about email notifications. It should now remember it - it does on mine.

There are other preferences you might like to change at the same time, such as not getting notifications about new media added. You can even turn off folks' signatures!

Didn't work, box has stayed unchecked but still getting the emails.

I just checked your profile and couldn't see anything wrong. Forward one of the emails you've received since switching them off to me at jim@motorhomeNOSPAMfun.co.uk (remove obvious) before sending.

Bump,

Still drowning under these pesky emails.
Wouldn't be so bad if it was just one PC, but open up another PC and get bombarded with hundreds of emails, open up, laptop, netbook or either of our tablets get bombarded.
OK they are folder filtered and I could set up junk mail filtering but that doesn't get rid of them.

Not seen your email. What are the emails? to which threads do they refer? Have you unsubscribed from those threads?

I see our posts crossed. I didn't do anything. Maybe there were some mails already in the system that were delivered after you unchecked them. Glad it's sorted

Sorry to be a pain. If I uncheck all the boxes will it just stop the emails. . ?

I DO still want the alerts on the top right of the page, please, as this helps me know when someone has responded or tagged me .. so I wouldn't want to stop those coming. sorry bit thick.

Not seen your email. What are the emails? to which threads do they refer? Have you unsubscribed from those threads?

Been out since 12, just had an email notification for this one that's the only one.
No I haven't unsubscribed to any threads, as I expected disabling the notification would do the job.
