Its a Hoopoe - Saw one once in Surrey. I think they are visitors to the southern counties - never get as far as Geordie Land :Smile:
I have seen them on trips to France.

We get a lot of wild birds here being by the thames but not seen a Hoopoe.

get plenty of Jays they tend to hang around on their own never seen them in pairs.

I have seen them on trips to France.

That's what I thought, but I was up in northern parts (N. Yorks Moors if I recall correctly), and there was one as large as life on the bank by the road.

Just got back from our 6 week tour around Skye and the Western Highlands then points south and east (Dornoch, Inverness, Edinburgh, Northumberland, N Yorks, Lincoln, Lichfield area, Bristol and home - as of about 2 hours ago. Everybody said to look out for eagles in Scotland, but I reckon they saw me coming and hid. Shame really.

was on that rd from edingburgh to inverness in slow traffic when a golden eagle landed on a post by the side of the rd stayed a few mins before flying off made my day first time seen on close up in the wild.
