Lots of apps for sat nav on Google play, so if it runs on Android then no problem.

Hudle will not have 3G so you would need a wifi connection

As camocam pointed out Hudl does not have a facility for a mobile sim card so would be useless as a sat nav. Apart from that its a good tablet, yes you can get better but they will cost more. If your not using your Tesco points for a crossing to France then a Hudl is even better value using points

Just take my word for it, it will work and they all sat nav apps have maps and you can use offline once loaded.

There are many recommendations somewhere on fun but until you actually make the purchase and follow the instructions on how to load apps you wont understand it.

We have sat nav progs on our Nexus (same type of thing) and travel all over Europe with it.

There are many available that WILL work off line. I have 2 different ones that do.

I have a huddle and I have not been able to use as a sat nav so must be doing something wrong somewhere

Don't see how any can work without, at least, GPS.

How does the off line map know your location at any given time?

As it is listed as having GPS I took it that it will work the same as my Nexus.

Hudl is listed as having GPS.
Where?

I just looked at two different websites and the spec on both say the hudl 2 has dual band WIFI...that's it.
So it would need wifi tethering to an Internet conected mobile phone when on the road.

Well done Brian, I also assumed as it says GPS --- Yes, it has it, and as it's for sale at Tesco (as the OP) I would hope they have it right.

Hudl1 has GPS BUT mine didn't work! :(

It took me quite a while to realise what I was missing and a little while in the shop getting them to agree. However, I now have FREE SATNAV working perfectly on Hudl1. Currently I use NavFree but other apps are available.

Get it tested - Gordon

Our Hudl works just fine as a satnav using Sygic European mapping.

I've used NavFree in the USA on my Galaxy 2. It has built in GPS.
