Whats the most expensive charges you have paid for EHU? Not sure if im reading it correctly but looks like this festival is charging £90 for 3 nights for the EHU which makes it even dearer than the campervan ticket itself.

It will be similar to the charge for EHU for traders at motorhome outdoor shows and what you are paying for is not just the electric but the cost of installing a temporary grid of hookup points, supplying the electricity and then removing it all again afterwards. When we do shows like Peterborough, Malvern, Lincoln etc an army of sparkies goes in first to install all the EHU infrastructure and then after the show to remove it all again, there must be a mile or two of very heavy electric cable involved as well as all the distribution boxes and sockets etc so its not a cheap job.

To be fair the title doesn't reflect the circumstance.
As Dave pointed out these are temporary power situations and the logistics make it expensive.

Thanks for the explanation. Never been to this particular venue before so haven't saw the layout. Just thought for the average punter it was way expensive.

Irn bru I notice you were looking at the Tartan Festival at Belladrum, all the caravan and camping tickets are sold out. If you were thinking of going then contact my son who owns the local post office and village shop https://www.facebook.com/KiltarlityPO?fref=ts he will be able to sell you tickets for the show as well as allowing you to overnight on his car park which is only a 15 minutes walk from the show. There is no ehu but during shop hours there is water and cassette emptying facilities. The also do a great value all day breakfast too.

As a matter of interest, and by way of comparison.

This years Great Dorset Steam Fair.

Caravan or motorhome £25 per night without EHU.
£36 per night with EHU.

Germany, most stupid amount of windturbines and solar = some of the most expensive inefficient electricity generation in Europe.

Still it may change when they finish their 22 new coal fired power stations to power the turbine producing plants.:doh::doh:

At major horse shows we can be charged anything from £50 -£100 for a few days hook up as said in previous posts the cost comes from having to have it temporarily installed and the then taken out by professionals .

Wow and I thought the Caravan Club's temporary electric provision at events was expensive? £6p.n. last year at the National but see it is nearly £9 a night at some of their events. Isn't the Dorset Steam Festival one of theirs? Perhaps it has been costed at last years fuel prices for the generators?
