Thanks to Jim we now have a crime reporting system .. to use fill in this form:

Link Removed

If you have suffered any sort of crime while touring in your van please help others by filling in the form..

This will be used to help identify any hot spots and will be plotted on a Google Map here

Google Maps

This can be consulted at any time... you can bookmark for future reference.

No personal information will be put on the map, just the place and incident details, hopefully the map will remain sparse.

If you look now you will see two incidents that I have reported .

Hi Jim, that should work well. I will tidy the form up a bit, and get the map and the form linked on the left hand side Nav Menu.

Like you say, lets hope the map stays as barren as the one in that Blackadder episode::bigsmile:

Melchett: God, it's a barren, featureless desert out there, isn't it.
Darling: The other side, Sir!

ScotJim's Motorhome Crime report and Hotspot Map can now be easily accessed by the "motorhome crime" link on the main navigation menu on the left of the front page.

Thanks for the idea and your time Jim :thumb:

Thanks for your support and time Jim

Fortunately Motorhome related crime is not high, in fact it's very low when compared to other types of crime .. but being forewarned is forearmed.

In the past two years of fulltiming and using French aires almost exclusively when in France, we have only suffered one theft, but with hindsight it could could have been prevented ..
It wasn't on an Autoroute Aire, which we never use, but on a busy holiday aire at Capbreton.

With over a hundred vans parked up, most with a couple of bikes, it was clear that mime had been targeted.. an almost new Trek Mountain bike .., a replacement for the Dawes touring bike stolen in Spain ..
It was secured with a strong security chain together with Jan's and Charlotte's bikes and also covered up, but the chain was cropped and the other bikes thrown aside .. with hindsight it would have been safer on the rack and with an alarm.. but being with a big crowd of vans gave us a false sense of security .. let your guard down and someone will exploit it ..
