Just to keep fun serious............

Naaah ! Rear Wheel on the road, no operational brake, no legal.
maybe in USA, but not here.

ANY trailer fitted with brakes, brake must be operational and meet requirements set down by rules, regardless of weight, end of.

It also used to be that a motorcycle trailer had to be a single track trailer, but all that has now gone by the by ( thank gawd ! )

For what purpose John.

It is legal to use a dolly FOR RECOVERY ONLY and to the nearest safe place....not for draggin yer bike from landsend to john 'o groats.

I suspect the first option will be used by VOSA.

All true of course.

Just like the old CB radios before being legal.
no law saying you cant own one but the law said you cant use it........and how many owned one but didnt use it ?

Many years ago I used to have a suzuki 250 ram air which snapped the crank in the middle of the nth yorks moors.

Thumbed a lift home and brought my car.

Took out the front wheel and sat the forks in the boot.
strapped it all down and towed home.

Really odd watching the bike lean the wrong way on tight bends.

The law states it is illegal to own transmitting equipment for which you do not hold the appropriate licence. End of.

Actually damned close WM but not quite correct.
You can own / have in your possession any transmitter** providing you have got it to modify or if working in a designated area, to repair ..
If it were true I am afraid the market in old PMR stuff that is so buoyant within the amateur radio community would have ended many yonks ago !
I bought a radar unit several years ago.. It was at a bring and buy sale.. Thought I was bidding on a microwave corner reflector antenna..
I was.. 'cept it came with a complete radar installation from HMS something or other.. Took up half my bloody van and I never did get it home..
On the way back I stopped at a skip, opened the poor thing up and removed all 4 ( yes 4 ! ) of the klystrons and dumped the rest !

**there WAS one exception to this
And yep, it was indeed multiband or AM cb radios.
But even that had to be dropped after complaints from other EU countries that use 23 channel AM cb still.
A couple of years ago I bought a CB from Maplin that had all the various country options in it,, and it had the MPT1302 approval tag on it

Yes its iliegal especialy in Spain. They will fine you on the spot and insist that you locate another motorcycle to tow you or confiscate your bike and fibre you 500e...

Its best to play safe and hire one when you get there...

Remember an a frame is for life not just for Christmas...

Hope this helps ;)

So why were there so many shops up and down the country openly selling cb radios in the late 70s early 80s.
and i mean window displays, not under the counter.

And what happens today if you take your statement to the letter of the law...there is no cb licence any more.

I suspect you are quoting ham radio law, not low power short distance cb radio.

If I towed my my bike it would have a working brake BUT the fact I do not put it on does not change the fact it does work and always has. Towing a motorcycle with a car is legal but not if a rider is on it.
Allowing my dolly to be pulled behind my MH is OK as long as I do not blow her up first and just let her flap behind as she is a pennant and not a dolly!!!!!!!!!!!
