Having being a bio burner for several years, but with the difficulty in getting the raw materials, ie, good used cooking oil to make good bio. It has become a labour of love keeping the faith. Have just been and filled the Rampage at .59 cents per litre for LPG, which works out at todays bank rate of 46 pence per litre for 200 litres, which is enough to run almost home. It costs me 30 pence per litre to make the bio, and that does not include the cost of fetching the stuff. I think I made the right decision changing over to this new fangled fuel.

Being a poor pensioner and of Jewish decent I could never afford the tunnel anyway.

We have LPG fuelling on both our V8 Discoveries, but missing the tunnel link is no big deal really, we go Harwich to Hook most trips and work our way down from there.

LPG has a lot of benefits apart from the price, engine oil lasts longer, exhaust parts don't corrode as quickly etc.

The Mercedes is diesel. Never bothered making biodiesel or running on veggie oil, just not worth the repair costs.

Smelly , particulate laden diesel is for tractors and lorries but will be around for as long as oil is coming out of the earth, my RV is on clean lpg but I don't think it will ever be a heavily used fuel.

If you think back how cheap cooking oil used to be, about 25/30 ppl. Now if you look it is dearer than derv, coincidence? I don't think so.

There was an old boy that used to run an old series two land rover on old cooking oil, used to swear blind you could tell where he got it from, chippy, Indian,Chinese, Kebab shop, just by the smell

I would LOVE to make my own bio but around here there does not seem to be any where to get old oil.. Big names have cornered the buying market

I buy the odd 20 litre drum of new vegetable oil from Costco for my 300Tdi 110, but that's used rarely these days as Clare and I have gravitated towards our regular V8 daily cars. There's something about an understressed V8 that's so appealing, plus they're not as demanding on fuel as some think. Neither those, or my other V8, run on LPG.

With diesel falling out of favour with the Government, I can only see Diesel prices rising bit by bit (in relation to petrol), plus additional legislative measures to ensure towns and cities aren't as polluted by Rudolf's invention as much as they currently are.

but palm oil is solid until heated,i ask as i see a lot of used palm oil in solid form out the back of the shops but never see used oil,but have seen people collecting used oil but never used palm oil?

I believe it needs an additive, such as petrol or kerosene, to help reduce the solidification issue.

We had a couple of duel fuel cars, I know autogas is available at more outlets these days, but the stress really kicks in when you run out and go on petrol.

I think diesel is here to stay, and engines will keep getting greener until they no longer run ! Bob.
