Hi Guys

Thinking of arranging a 'small and friendly' meet to coincide with the Great Cornish Food Festival (Cornwall Food & Drink) festival in Turo from 25th to 27th Sept 2015

http://www.visitcornwall.com/whats-...food-festival-cornwall-food-drink#.VJ1irP8CIA

Am currently investigating suitable sites, but my initial plan is to book a CC Cl site close by, so I expect spaces would be limited to about 5 vans

If anyone is interested in joining us, please post below and I will add more details.

Here is what you can look forward to;.....

After ten storming years, the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival is getting a makeover. Following the tremendously popular style of their Great Cornish Food Book, it will now be known as the Great Cornish Food Festival and takes on the book’s gorgeous contemporary blue and white look.

The Great Cornish Food Festival is still in September, on Lemon Quay, and is still the biggest food festival in Cornwall. This year the festival is supported by First Great Western.

The full line-up and all the essential details will be published on the Great Cornish Food website from early July.

What is it all about?
Truro’s Lemon Quay will transform into foodie heaven for three days of eating, drinking, shopping and entertainment as the festival celebrates the food revolution that has taken place in Cornwall over the past 12 years. Demonstrating just why the county’s thriving food scene is loved by food connoisseurs from far and wide, this is one food event not to be missed.

What’s On This Year?
Street-food style pop-ups from a selection of Cornwall’s top restaurants and exciting newcomers will be serving a taster of their restaurant’s mouth-watering signature dishes. Cornwall’s array of artisan producers will deliver a bounty of the best food and beverages from around the county: bakers, butchers, breweries, cider makers, chocolatiers and cheese-makers will all be sampling and selling their wares. The perfect place to start your Christmas present shopping!

Meanwhile, top chefs will entertain, inspire and share their secrets in the Chefs’ Theatre and Croust Bar Masterclass Theatre. Playing host to the county’s highest profile chefs and foodie personalities, such as Michelin starred Nathan Outlaw, the exciting line-up illustrates the diversity of culinary expertise in the county and perfectly demonstrates just why Cornwall deserves its reputation as one of the greatest places to eat in the country, if not the world!

How can you take part?
The Festival is free to enter, so this is a weekend not to be missed for all those food fans who can’t get enough of the fantastic array of food and drink that heralds from Cornwall. Offering plenty of fun for all the family, the festival draws in thousands of visitors to Truro each September and has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2004, epitomising everything that people love about Cornwall and its produce

You would want somewhere on a bus route I think. The CC site at Carnon Downs is on the main road so well positioned. It is an affiliated site, not owned by the CC so open to anyone. Big site too.

The site I have in mind is near a pub, adjacent to a National Cycle Path AND the bus route into Truro where the festival is.
Have emailed the site to confirm availablity and have asked about Non member 'friends' coming too
I'm specifically looking at CL's which are smaller, and more intimate as its not going to be a large gathering

The so-called cycle path here is the edge of a very busy road (A390) and not a lot of fun. The Park & Ride is opposite Truro Caravan and Camping also on this road, but if you want to park up elsewhere the P&R has dedicated MH places and easy to get into from the west (A30 direction).
Which site are you thinking of @Robert Clark ? - transport into Truro may be a problem if you're not able to get to the P&R. (Maybe you've been before, & know the state of play...)

Hi CWH
Thanks very much for the 'heads up'
Considering a few sites at the moment

Chygwyne Farm CL
http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=13689
Close to bus stop

Langarth Farm CL
Which is 300m from the Truro Park and Ride

Penvoler Kea CL
Only two miles from town
Close to public transport

I'll just throw this into the mix just in case it changes people's thoughts regarding location.

Yes, the Park and Ride at Langarth, on the West side of Truro, does have 4 or 5 designated bays for motorhomes. However, these are very poorly marked and are always occupied by cars. ( I have recently exchanged emails with Cornwall Council on this subject, but they don't seem interested in improving the signage or enforcing their own rules).

A new Park and Ride, on the East side of the city towards Tresillian, is currently under construction but I am not aware of an anticipated completion date.

My personal view would be that the best options would be: a) a good site close to Truro with public transport links. Carnon Downs would fit the bill and, although alongside the main road, is large enough to allow for peaceful pitching. Or b) Maybe a site in the Falmouth area. This town has so much to offer and in my opinion would be a good central base to spend a short break in the county. And it offers, not only an excellent bus service to Truro, but also the Park and Float service from the centre of the town up the river to a drop-off point within a few yards of Lemon Quay where the Food Festival is taking place.

Just my thoughts, having knowledge of the area. Hope it helps.

Stef.

Just remind me @dreckly - does the carrot go under or on top of the clotted cream?

Being from down St Agnes way you should know better, what's this swede business, you know it is turnip? Or are you using such terminology for the benefit of our friends from over the Tamar?:xgrin:

our friends from over the Tamar
Traitor!
That's like me (a Yorkie [though living in Cornwall]) saying "our friends from over the Pennines" - it's just NOT DONE!
