I just knew someone would ask me a technical question lol. It says version 9.510 on the screen if that helps?
I believe that there are maps loaded for most of Europe but never had need for this facility. Our newest Sprinter already has satnav fitted so we're no longer using this satnav.

I have tried to interrogate the machine but cannot find out how old the maps are but I believe that its fairly inexpensive to update them anyway. I very rarely used this satnav so I'm really sorry that I cannot tell you more about it. There is a CD in the box to do with this satnav.
Hope this helps..Robert.

Hi, when unit is turned on, tap the lower right hand corner. Where it says version 9.510, tap this. This will bring up a screen with writing. About 6th line down will be the map version, ie. 937_5945 or similar. Nigel

Is there a typo in the number? The current wersion of the latest maps are 940_????. Tomtom update maps approx every quarter, jumping 5 each time i.e 925, 930, 935 (then had 937) and now 940.

Maps starting 880 were released in Oct 2011.

If your Map is a 700 series one, it is ancient in GPS terms. Can you check

Hi, The map is at least 5 years out of date. Based on the fact that a map update is ÂŁ60, do you wish to reconsider asking price. I am looking for unit to use as spares as my screen has started playing up. Nigel

I'm a tad confused as the machine says it was updated in April 2013 so in my opinion the mapping is reasonably up to date. The price stays as it is. I just thought I'd offer the satnav to forum users before popping it onto fleabay.
If you only wanted it for the screen I'd have thought the mapping would have been irrelevant?

The april 2013 is the date you last updated unit via tomtom home (i.e updated the gps quick fix) Nothing to do with maps.

As the unit is so old, and you can now buy units with a lifetime of free updates for ÂŁ79.99 or a single latest map guarantee for ÂŁ59 (check out Halfords), the price is to say the least OTT or in other words a rip off to forum users. Good luck trying to sell it at ÂŁ110

Will keep looking for screen on fleabay

Charmed I'm sure & that's no way to speak to another forum user. The machine software was updated a few days ago so me thinks the rip off merchant is yourself! I'd never rip anyone off & this little satnav is true & honest. I'm also confused as to why you were interested in the first place if things are so cheap? I think I smell SHITE !!!!!

I have this unit and pay approx ÂŁ 30 forWestern Europe map updates for the year, giving me 4 updates.
I was not aware this unit can be programmed to setup for height, width etc?
I will have a look tomorrow.
I would not know its worth.

These units are so very much better than the cheap & cheerful ones from Halfrauds. They can also be programmed with the fuel consumption of your Motorhome & the price of fuel thus allowing them to work out the approximate cost of any journey. All in all they're great little satnavs & extremely good little gadgets.

Robert & Hazel.

Robert & Hazel.

The units at Halfords (as quoted above) are Tom Tom models. The only difference to yours and these is that your operating system is windows based whilst the newer models are linux based.

With respect, you are misrepresenting the item that you are trying to sell. You have the box standard Tomtom Go720 with a Western_Europe' v705.1480 map, which is at least 5 years old. It is not a TOMTOM Truck or Camper, and thus does not guide you away from routes with low bridges / weight restrictions. It is a standard car model.

Your claim that the Tomtom is updated is at best misleading at worse a lie! You claim you updated the tomtom a few days ago, when thats all you did is update the Navcore (the operating system) which is done automatically when you log onto tomtom home. The Map is hopelessly outdated and will result in you driving 'across fields'.

A quick search has indicated that people with TT720 units were talking about Map; "Western_Europe' v705.1480 in 2007 so it would appear that the unit has never had a map update since then whilst its operating system has been updated. Also the option to select vehicle type/dimensions was not available in 2007 and so the map would be very unlikely to have the data to check for road widths etc.

TomTom GO720 Truck Europe same as the one we have as marked on the box on ebay used & listed at 14o quid. Seems to me that you'd have been very happy if you'd managed to buy it from me for 50p.
Now will you go pester someone who gives a toss & get off my case.

The diference is that the software is what it claims to be, and is up to date.

Using your words, why dont you go somewhere else and find a fool to buy your outdated tomtom at such an inflated price. We look after each other on this forum, not rip each other off!!!!!

Point taken & understood, something here must be awry so item no longer for sale, it can sit in glove box of the wife's car where it cannot be an issue.

Kind regards...Robert & Hazel.

Hi Robert and Hazel

Firstly contrary to my earlier comment let me say they did issue a GO720T for Lorries etc in 2007 at the same time as they brought out the standard Go720. I am sorry about that.

The problem appears to be not knowing for certain which model you have bearing in mind they also issued a GO720 Traffic version which includes an RDS-TMC cable to get data from the local radio stations on road problems.

It would appear that whilst the unit has been kept up todate this does not include the map as these have to be purchased seperately. If the map on yours is as you have indicated it is in desperate need of updating if it is going to be used much and if you go onto the Tomtom UK site and select the maps section you can find out how much to update your map after putting in the units serial number . This will then give you an idea of how your unit stands value wise against for example the one you mentioned which is supposed to have the latest map on it. Some have sold for more and some significantly less than you were seeking. Very much a lottery.

It is amazing how many changes have taken place. Some friends of ours have a TT about the same age as yours and they followed us from Santander to Valencia about 3 years ago. When we arrived they commented that they were surprised how clean the van was as it had been travelling across fields most of the way. I downloaded a new map for them.

I think I would keep the unit as backup and use in the car especially if keeping the Satnav in the van up todate is going to be more expensive.

Hope this is helpful.

I was shocked to read the response to this 'For Sale' thread. I think we have a Funster who genuinely had an item for sale that they thought was a bargin. The tone of the response seemed, IMHO somewhat unwarranted.

Getting better
When I appear on Mastermind my specialist subject will not be Tom Tom Sat Nav
In my innocence I assumed it was just a device you turned on and used. Following this thread I realise it's a whole new world of technobabble, which I have no knowledge or any desire to have any knowledge.
I will keep my faithful road atlas books by my side and maybe treat myself to a 2015 edition in the post Christmas sales. The Sat Nav can continue to enjoy it's established position in the van glove box!!

I still feel it was a genuine offer even if, as you posted, you felt it was misrepresented. Had the issue cropped up after I purchased I would have expected the seller to accept a return, and being a Funster he probably would. -IMO!!!

I can only agree with the above post. I think that he made it as clear as day that he did not understand the workings. Help was needed, not a slagging! Sad.

Totally agree one thing for sure I'd think twice about putting anything on here for sale
Having said that I did sell a load of stuff last year with great success but didn't get the same treatment ambulancekidd got.:eek:
