For those who take their dogs away with them in the Motorhome, do you use dog coats, especially in wet weather?

Ha ha! Was thinking more about keeping them dry on wet days. I know a lot of COCKERPOO owners swear by the equafleece coats. Only four wet feet and a head to dry.

I was sceptical about them but then we tried one and we're converted. The main point is the dog is mostly dry, other than feet, when you get back and take the coat off. I don't think the dog notices the benefit, but the owners do!

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We've got two border terriers. The eldest one has worn a rain coat in the past. But she's 15 now and doesn't walk that much. The younger one ,5, just stands there. With a sad look.
Open legged, as if to say " get it off me"

We have coats for our three Shi Tzus which combine a harness. Equafleece that we had sagged and became very wet and grubby.

many many years! since I was a kid
our three have very short coats being staffies. so we put them in good quality coats in the freezing cold and when its pouring with rain. avoids the stink of wet dog in the van too which is a real bonus when added to less wet dog towels to dry out

it helps that my mrs was bought up in the horsey set, so chose weatherbeater coats as the best available. virtually bombproof (well staffie proof, which is nearly the same) sensible prices too at our local equine and country store (£15 each)

Saw a program a few weeks ago, it was about bespoke dog coats. £185 for a small dog . What's wrong with a Tesco bag with leg holes cut out . ;)

... you've forgot about the head and bum holes!!!! Lack of the former could make the dog a bit hot and bothered, lack of the latter could make you very hot and bothered when you have to clear up the mess inside!!!!

Of our 3 dogs, our little Lily (6 yr old Patterdale Terrier) is quite happy with a coat or anything else for that matter as she was a kiddies dog previously who obviously dressed her up all the time! Our Romy (11 yr old cross staffie/greyhound) tolerates a coat but doesn't really like it. Our Tazzy (3 yr old cross jackie/chihuahua) hates having anything on here ... she just stand there and refuses to move ... at all ... not even for food ... just giving us the evil eye ... you'd never believe how much of a disgusted look she can give when she's such a cutie normally!!!

No Sorry
Lack of the former (ie head) means a dead dog
lack of the latter (bumhole) means an exploding dog.

I think if we put Cayley in a coat she would drown as she's a Labrador and loves swimming.

Can also recommend the Three Peaks range. My sisters eldest dog flatly refuses to move when either his harness or waterproof coat is on. In fact we have to chase him round the house to catch him, and when eventually the coat is fitted he lies down and refuses to move. You would think it was made of lead the performance we have.

Broken Link Removed, equafleece, equafleece every time, great to deal with too, lots of different styles to accommodate all shapes and sizes.

These evolved from the horsey set too. Lots of reviews on mse.(y)

Our COCKERPOO coats are very woolly and seem to absorb the water. I think a coat will be a must have in the van when it's wet.

Hellooooo! Its a DOG!:D
Hello back at you....it's a wet, dripping sodden mess of a dog! That not only needs towel drying, but hair drying and then grooming to check for matts, everytime it goes out!! Then there is poo two to contend with....same rigmarole there too. And whilst your coping with one poo two is shaking, and rolling on the furniture in a vain attempt to dry itself off, so then the whole van is wet and muddy. :()
