Slide out problem (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I wondered if anyone may be able to help with my problem.
I have a 2003 R-vision Trail-lite 262 with slide-out. I have just had an
oyster sat dish fitted and when I went away last weekend I got all set up,
pressed my slide-out button but nothing happened. It was completely dead.
I checked the obvious ign off, park brake on, levelling jacks etc but nothing
was a miss. I have now checked all of the fuse boxes, still nothing.
It is an electric motor not hydraulic, is there an in line fuse or does any body have any ideas of where to start looking.

When these sort of things happen to me the first question I ask is "what's changed?". So I'd give the company that fitted the Oyster a call and ask them if they've any ideas. The Oyster is a pretty simply system to wire in. Positive, Negative and switched positive (for auto retract). Off the top of my head I can't think what they could have done to disrupt the slide-out.
On my RV (Monaco) the slide out motors are on their own fuse in the house fusebox.

Maybe they managed to cut the slideout control wire when cutting the hole for the oyster, or even put a screw through it. Just a thought.:Cool::Cool:

Slide out

Do the wires for the slide-out run accross inside the roof ?

I have contacted the company and they said that the never touched
the slide-out wiring, and the only wires they touched were under the
dash.

I have checked the wiring under the dash and all seems o.k.

Slide out Problem deepens

Thank You for your replies.

I have searched high and low but cannot find any fuses or breakers.
I had an electrician to look at it yesterday and there was no power
to the motor or switch.
I then remembered that when I was looking under the dash for something else
I touched some wires and one was loose.
As I looked under the dash I noticed two wires going into one spade clip, I looked for where the wire had come from and noticed only one connection that the wire would reach. I re-connected the wire but it felt loose so I crimped it to make it a tight fit.
As I did this I heard a bleep from the levelling jack switches and a red light flashed
as though this was the wire to power the jacks.
So last night I un plugged this wire and tried the slide out and it worked, however the jacks then stopped working until I re connected the wire. So with the wire connected the slide out won't work and with the wire disconnected the jacks won' work

Any Thoughts

you say there are two wires going to the terminal and two devices affected. One device works with connection made and one with it broken. So remove one of the two wires connected to the spade and try again then swap the two wires, one combination should give you both working, let us know how you get on. Good luck.

Slide V Jacks?

Hi

As I understand it, Jacks work, slide doesnt OR vice versa?

When its working properly, (1) do the jacks HAVE to be down BEFORE the slide will work? OR (2)can they both work independantly?.

IF (1) then it would appear that the Power for the slide is inhibited UNTIL the jacks are deployed, so a connection via the jacks has been "lost".

IF (2) then Your power to the slide has been "lost" (obvious!) and you need to trace the supply (Fuse?) the wire colour code, and then its a game of "follow the wire" until you find the Problem, This is one of the major "downsides" of R-V`s, ie poor electrics/connection(s) and a lack of circuit diagrams.

The Jacks worked and the slideout worked.
Do you know what the other wire does or does this mean that there is a fault
elsewhere?

I wouldn't mind betting it's the feed for the auto retract for the Oyster. Try turning the ignition on and see if the Oyster retracts.

glad to be of help. Unfortunately it almost certainly means you have a problem elsewhere. I suggest you now label that wire with a note to say where it came from and the problem you were having. It is a good bet that it is the feed wire for the oyster (unless of course that still works OK) If it is that then go back to the installers and let them know what you have found. Let them rewire it properly.
