Last year around this time we booked our easter and summer ferry crossings. We used the nec show discount code and got a bit off. Does anyone have or know if there is a code available to use this year before I go ahead and book? Thanks.

From other posts on here and my own experience I don't think there will be many discounted fares this year, seem to be just going dearer all the time

Oh well, thought I'd check first. Price not too bad really as I've been quoted £144 return for 7 m motorhome with 5m trailer, 2 adults and 2 children. About £ 35 more than last year.

I've just checked for 3rd to 11th April with Eurotunnel and its £166. To get that I could travel out at any time but had to return before 8am. Returning later on the 11th would be an extra £20.

Might be wise to check your exact dates and avoid the possibility of a rough crossing.

I think the tunnel would be quite a bit more with us towing the trailer, so looks like the usual Dover-Calais outbound and Dunkirk- Dover return.

Hi Nigel67,
We have a similar set up to you, (8.5m and Smart Car trailer) and are looking to go outbound DFDS - Dover-Calais- on July 1st next year but a lot of the sailing times are saying 'sold out' already....... are they really sold out or is it a ploy to fill up certain sailings first and then release more later?
We can't get our outbound one below £135 and that's before we add the return at the end of July.
Any hints on how to reduce it?
What time of year have you got yours for £144 return?

Cheers
Jim

I went on DFDS web site today to book a trip Dover- Dunkirk out early next May back late July. The site vehicle sizes have changed for next only 2 now available my Rapido is 2.9m x 6.99 so fell into upto 4.35m x 10 m I was quoted £75 each way. Ferrysavers allowed me to put more accurate vehicle sizes in and they quoted £94 return.
I prefer to book ferries direct with the company in case I need to alter a sailing (cheaper and easier )so I phoned DFDS and queried the price difference. The guy I spoke too couldn't explain or understand the web site price and quoted me £99 but matched the Ferrysavers price of £94 without being asked. Good service from DFDS Happy days. The guy confirmed pm sailings were sold out.

Caravan club are advertising "book with the Caravan Club between 14 October and 31 October 2014 and you can enjoy an exclusive offer of 25% off on both DFDS Seaways routes from Dover." or another deal " DFDS offers Club members a 10% discount on public fares - Available on all departures until 23 December 2015." See http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/overseas-holidays/ferries/dfds for the small print.
Hope that helps someone :)

The discount of 25% through the Caravan club is only for car and caravan not motorhomes. How can a 3.5 m catr and an 8m caravan be cheaper than a 9m motorhome. looks like the CC are still pandering to the Caravan owners and forgetting the MH owners even though the MH bring in a great deal onf money to the club

To be fair think that they are finally realising that the number of motorhome members are increasing. In our experience sites in school holidays have gone from 20% motorhomes 80% caravans to 50/50 in the last couple of years so they would be blind not to! They are also trying to appeal to families now running childrens activities at peak times. Don't know if we will renew this year as site fees are bonkers when we have to go in the school holidays & have just joined Motor Caravanners Club to supplement the Fun rallies:)

That's a good deal if you are members but we are ccc members so no good for us. To be honest I think £144 return is pretty good really for motorhome and trailer. My friends can't understand why we go from Dover when we are an hour from Plymouth but at £760 for the same crossing dates I tell them there are "616" good reasons to do it!! Ok so I have to do an extra 500 miles (250 each way) but the overall travelling time is about identical, plus the wife's not the best sailer so the shorter crossing is ideal for us.

:):) I went through most of the ferry websites and none could match C/Club price .
Ok ....so no changes allowed (we may not even make it lol).............
but at decent times 10.00 out to Calais and back Dunkirk I think it's great.
