Hi we have just taken ownership of a 1993 Fiat Hymer B534. So far all is good except for the loo. The trap in the cassette does not close therefore we cannot remove it. Has anyone any tips of how to remove it without causing damage to the loo. Hopefully we can replace the cassette. If not does anyone know which model loo that we can replace the Thetford C3 with? Struggling to find a replacement. There are pieces missing from the loo, when I use the kitchen tap the bathroom is awash with water. How do we find out if it's an electric or manual 'flush' the knob/dial doesn't move.

Has anyone living in Spain found a good assessory shop, they are very few and far between here in the Granada region. We need to replace locks etc so if anyone knows of a place that we can contact either in Spain (preferably English speaking - to avoid confusion!) or the UK that would deliver to Spain or post to friends in the UK.
Thanks in anticipation :)

many many years! since I was a kid
it sounds like the shutter has seized up. not a nice job, but put on rubber gloves and feel through the hole for the shutter and pull it as you turn the knob. otherwise you will snap off the shutter control and would need to replace it if forced

check the shower head and taps in the bathroom are actually off. sounds like a failed microswitch

you can still source replacements for the old c3 easily in the uk. sorry cant help with suppliers in spain

We are out of touch with suppliers in the UK but are happy to use them. Can you point us in the direction of one? When looking on the internet only finding sales of motor homes and not a 'parts' etc shop. Thanks for that advice.

Go here and have a search around for your model toilet..

There are some useful repair pages you can download plus all part numbers etc..
I had this happen to mine and it was the "saddle bracket", just a screw come loose inside..
You need to gain access from outside and manually turn the blade opener, then you can get the cassette out and start on doing repairs..

Aww, don't leave it there. Can you not tell us what caused the cassette to jam, and how you overcame both that and the flooding, please?
Others will have been following the thread, and might find the info useful too.

Cheers,

Jock.

The connections with the open and shut system and the cassette were not connecting, not lined up correctly, so OH jemmied it very slightly to lift the loo so he could slide the cassette out. Whilst he was looking at the underneath of the loo to find out why it was leaking. He spotted that the plastic inlet pipe connection nut was cracked and he has replaced it with a washing machine water feed pipe as they are the same. The cassette once removed and put back in works fine. Saved some money too as we were advised at the caravan/ motor home place that we would have to buy the whole kit to replace the nut.
