I bought one a few years back to run my laptop as a SatNav, and it worked well but when I changed laptops I could not find where I ha put the adaptors for cable end, :Doh:

I have 2 of them, but would not advise there use for a laptop. I use mine for the TV power and to charge my rechargeable lamp.

I agree, I think most laptops need much higher voltages, we bought a laptop power supply / charger from Maplins, 12V input cigar lead, various (30+) output connections

Thing is though, my controller displays amp output, with just this connected it is taking 4A, just about the same as my 500W plug in inverter to which I then connect the correct charger for the laptop :doh:

BTW, this is a 2009 thread reopened, the OP offer will long since have been superceded (y)

Correct PJ. Maplin are currently (31 Aug 2014) selling this as a clearance item.

I'm led to believe from the guy in the shop that the voltage is stabilised at 12v providing this is the minimum input. It will not boost from a lower voltage to 12v.
Got one reserved and will have a look at it tomorrow to confirm.
