Just had v heavy rain in Polstead ( thank you big Bertha ) and now the window by the gas hob is running with water. Anyone got any experience of this and how it might be cured ?
My van is an Autotrail Apache 2009 with the folding / concertina type blinds

Should clarify, it's coming out of the blind cassette and running down the wooden wall board onto the work top

Had the same problem on a kontiki....no wise cracks, i loved that van.
The water was running off the bottom of the frame and down the wall.
It was entering at the top and running around the frame and running over the edge.

To be safe i removed the whole window frame, cleaned off the old mastic and re-bedded the frame.....only took a couple of hours.

That's the best way to do it

No point putting more mastic on if it might rain soon.....it isnt waterproof until its cured.

Better to dry the outer wall as best as possible and put some gaffa tape around the window frame.

Sort it properly when the sun is out and likey to stay out for the day.

many many years! since I was a kid
the only way to fix it long term is do it properly as mentioned above.
remove blind and window
clean up old mastic
dry out the surfaces
treat any soft wood to prevent rot
reassemble using the correct mastic on a tape

never ever use silicon sealant to try and seal a leak, it wont work and will trap damp in causing rot. much much more expensive than doing it right

try creeping jack
creeping jack and captain tolleys are both great for windscreens and fibreglass, but useless in the joint between windows and van walls. the joint on these is constantly flexing

Check ebay for mastic that doesn't have pictures of caravans on it :)

Same stuff but not charging you camper owner tax

I got a 25mtr roll of 25mm for the price of that 5mtr
