long (with Brian) short (alone) medium (with Andy)
We had similar so l used one of those kitchen sink unblocker granuels (advertised on tv small black bottle)
Seems to have worked pretty good but when sorting it make sure to leave doors and windows open nothing flamable nearby and pour gently suddenly the gas whooshes back and it is murderous.

l ran loads of water through after then swilled down the road very well in case of dogs/birds etc ingesting any water

It's no different from house plumbing. Try a plunger first, then try taking off and cleaning out the U-bend. Finally try chemicals (but make sure you then empty into a proper sewer, rather than septic tank).

very different to house plumbing.

There is usually no U bend but there may be a slight dip on the pipework to prevent smells.

Small bore convoluted waste pipe, which by its very design will cause terbulance and slow water flow and encourage waste particals getting trapped in the convolutions.

Of course, American motorhome plumbing is done properly with domestic type large bore (1-1/2") rigid waste pipe and a proper U bend under the sink and shower.

Yes, I'm spoilt. Even more so as I had to replace some of the plumbing where the grey waste entered the tank, as the old tank connector had split. Turns out that UK spec 32mm compression plumbing mates perfectly satisfactorily with 1978-era American plumbing. Not so much as an adapter needed. Replaced the old rigid connection with a 32mm tank connector and a flexi connector. It looked like the original rigid connector is what caused the problem in the first due to the bumps in the road being transmitted to the connector and breaking it. A bit of flexibility was called for.

We have proper u bends and P traps on all our pipes, in a British built van. We do have slow drainage in the kitchen sink sometimes though, usually when the van is down more at the front. Boiling water or soda crystals down the sink usually gets things back to normal

boiling water can be dangerous to plastic fittings and sinks etc, so beware. a couple of bottles of cheap cola will normally eat through a blockage and is not as toxic as drain cleaner or caustic soda. plus its a cheap fix too

Yep, we had a similar issue with our Broadway - no blockages but sometimes slow draining which I put down to an airlock. The shower was quite close to the grey tanks and never a problem. I can confirm a proper u bend under the sink.

Cheap cola works well - swill it around for a few miles as well. Allan did not suggest caustic soda but soda crystals - two very different beasts. The first is sodium hydroxide and found in drain cleaners, the second is sodium carbonate and used to be used commonly in laundering. Very mild and works quite well in keeping things clear
