Hi All

Am having major problems presently with gearbox. I have a Peugeot Boxer 2.8 and it has just stopped selecting 2nd gear.
Recently it had a problem with 5th so I either need a rebuild or recon gearbox.

I have been searching the internet for a good gearbox specialist after I was quoted £1450 by Bexhill Gearboxes after a test drive of the van. They have a good reputation but £1450!!
I knew it wasn't going to be cheap but still?

I have been checking out eco torque transmissions in Arlesey Bedfordshire after I saw them on ebay, check this out....

It seems a really good deal. Has anyone had any experience of them. Can anyone recommend a good gearbox specialist.
I know some of you have had gearbox problems so any advice or recommendations would be helpful.
I live in Sussex but I am willing to travel almost anywhere to get a good deal.

Its coming into summer now and I want to go to Europe.

All help is appreciated many thanks

not long enough
I have almost zero technical knowledge, but was parked next to Brewery Dave at Chester, he had a similar sounding issue en route to Chester, temp fix with gaffer tape on linkages and then repaired for a lot less than you are talking

He is now in Europe

Hopefully, yours is might be a simple :thumb:

Good luck

I had a similar problem on a 1.9td boxer 5 speed don't know if yours is similar ..but..my mate is mechanical minded.. and I read and read on the net about people having new gearboxes put in...ouch..i explained to my mate about it and a couple of hour later fixed ..I cant really explain the fix .but I know it involved removing 5 bolts on gear box and cleaning up a shiny rotating piece and greasing up.. had to alter the drain skuttle because it drops water on to the gearbox..
if you want to speak to my mate I can give you his mobile..he will explain better..going away in van in the next hour but..my mobile is..
07742604758..
cheers..

Its an amazing place not a tool in site not a work bench to be seen, Nice car and card table though:thumb:
He instils me with confidence:RollEyes:

I believe he ie extreamly thorough and consistant in his re builds because every gear box he sells has had the same £285 worth of parts and labour done to it. well their all the same price no matter whats wrong or how much labour is reqd
you may find is only that price if he's removing and fitting as well

For that price expect a steam clean and a coat of silver paint

£285 is called in the trade a "Carrot" You wont get much change out of a grand if your lucky you will also lose your vehicle untill you pay up after wich time due to arguments any warranty offered will be void
Scour e-bay search for the names of reputable repairers,
I rarely generalise but
Ill save you the time there arnt many if any:RollEyes:
All our local good guys are busy with local trade work and public work they haven the time to write up scams for e bay
