Love switzerland but bloody expensive stock up with food first.

What weight if over 3.5 ton you will need to pay the heavy tax and that is only available at about 3 border crossings one being Basil.
lf under need a vinette again at the border but l think those any borders someone may corect me and they will have you if you dont get it.

You can get the vignette here for £29, saves you pulling off to one side at the border and faffing about with currencies etc. Careful how you stick it onto the screen, it must be in the right place and doesn't lend itself to being adjusted.

We were in Interlaken last June on an ACSI site, paid about £20 a night with the local tax which gives you a bus pass for the locality.

Check the weather forecast as I believe that southern Germany is having bad flooding again ... we got caught in it last year for 3 weeks and it was NOT funny!

Again. Poor souls !

We did many miles avoiding them and were directed to pitches that had just about recovered on some sites.

Lake Orta

Forget Lake Maggiore. Stay by Lake Orta instead.
Campsite to die for right by the lake. No 2498 in this years ACSI book.

Still only a year after many years camping
The only site we've stayed on on Maggiore is in Cannaro Riviera and we would definitely return.

We've also stayed here - it was many years ago (1997) and we were in a tent, but from what I remember we felt the same.:thumb:

Good campsite within walking distance of Brunnen. Right by Lake Lucerne.
