I`m pretty sure that they are Tufted ducks.
Aythya fuligula
As with most diving ducks the tufted duck has rapid flight, and almost runs on the water surface when taking off. Breeds in Eastern Britain on secluded lakes, and overwinters on open fresh waters in all areas of Britain.

Nice pictures:thumb::thumb:

"Sorry"....... But I will have to disagree....

Even young Tufted ducks at an early`ish age have the makings of their trade mark "Tuft"...

Your birds are well into being senior... and no sign of a tuft..

I`ll stand my ground and say they are Bufflehead`s.. ::bigsmile:

Picture on the left is a young Tufted.... Picture on the right similar age Bufflehead... :thumb:

All of which proves the old saying :Eeek:

If it looks like a duck - walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it most probably is a DUCK :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As the Photo was taken in Stratford on Avon yesterday.

I think I'll go with The Tufted Duck theory.:thumb:

Buffleheads are estuarine ducks and basically N American
so it would be a bit of a rarity, and not a twitcher in sight:Smile:

Thanks anyway guys:thumb:
