I'm going to be towing a small car trailer behind our motorhome any tips or advice would be great

Check towing weight you can pull first to make sure the van can actually do it !!

Check the plated weight of the trailer does not exeed the towing weight of the conversion.
Many convertions have a lower towing weight than the original chassis plate due to the chassis extension.

And remember to use the max permitted weight of the trailer as thats what is used NOT what it actually weighs

Example
You can and will be prosecuted for towing an EMPTY 3.5 ton limit trailer weighing only 1 ton if 3.5T exceeds your limits of say 2 tons

i bought a smart car and trailer,,then found the plate with the lower limits in my wardrobe,,now got to load the car up ang go get weighed....going to be very close with it all loaded,,,even though i was told by the teailer builders and tow bar people that i would be well under.....dont believe all they tell you,,,,dont make same mistake as me,,,,check first.....

I just bought a little Honda beat tow car and I am having a tow bar fitted to the MH and we are going to France in two weeks
Just read that the system is illegal in Spain

as a backup, make sure your passenger is licenced to drive the car....just in case.

France appears ok with a frames but times are changing quickly.

Yes..
Check towing weight you can pull first to make sure the van can actually do it !!

and your licence......you need B+E if under 3500kg or C1+E if over 3500kg.
Test passed Pre jan 1997 and you should have it but check anyway as it has been known for DVLA to leave it off your licence.
