Having recently returned from our first road trip, I thought you might find it interesting to have a look at the actual costs and details of the journey through France and Spain.

Average speed is interesting too, how are you measuring that? I used to get about 55/60 to and from Manchester in a car, ok we did 90 or so coming home from late night games which boosted it. :Blush: But in the motorhome my readout showed an average of about 15 with the ins and outs of aires, campsites, fuel stops, hypermarkets plus towns and the like all bringing the average down. :Confused:

That's pretty good going! I love stats, we averaged just under £29/day over a (almost) 12 month trip of Europe: http://www.europebycamper.com/2012/03/touring-europe-for-year-what-does-it.html

We kept an excel spreadsheet log at the end of each day with miles traveled and expenditure as we were on a tight budget. Always meant to make some more graphs, but never had the time

Took it from the trip computer in the van. I also took average speeds between each campsite as a secondary check and they varied between 21 and 55 mph. We stayed in 40 campsites in total so the mph was very different depending on the roads we took.
