Default Alko and Waxoyl

Hi,

I thought i would post this as a spearate thread as others may be interested in the replies?

I have been looking at having the chassis steam cleaned and treated with Waxoyl, do any of you know if doing this would damage the Alko chassis, it is out of warranty so that problem doesn't arise.

The reason I ask is that I have noticed that while the actual ALko chassis appears fine some of the parts connected or running along the galvanised section have started to show light rusting and while I suppose these could be treated separately it would be easier to spray the whole thing.

any advice would be welcome

no sure but i think waxoyl is only an oil based rust inhibiter so it shouldnt do any harm to the galv chassis but pretty pointless and expensive doing the whole chassis.

Have to agree with PJ....plus 'whats the point'?? A galvanised chassis should virtually outlive everything else on your van...the cab and body will have disintegrated long before your chassis even shows signs of any fractures!
