We are off to Poland next month and will be traveling to Warsaw from Berlin then on to Krakow and Zakopane before heading back up to Prague. We tow a Nissan Micra on an A frame. I have heard that car theft and break-ins are very common in Poland and would like any information on this. Any recommendations on Aires/campsites around the 3 Polish towns above would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The key is making your vehicle VISUALLY more difficult to steal. Leave nothing in your tow vehicle. Even if leaving in services, used a steering wheel disc lock or similar - take a wheel clamp if need be. Chain and lock the hitch frame to the motorhomes' tow bar. Extra agro - but far less than sorting out a stolen car!!

The more visually difficult it is to steal your car, the more likely they are to go for another car locally without the security measures! A theif wants to be in and out quickly. Breaking in, removing a disc lock, sawing through a chain to remove it from the motorhome, and then a wheelclamp, and then getting the car started.

He won't want to be caught so will go elsewhere!

Strap doors and use the appropriate security locks when the motorhome is unattended.

Many thanks to Geo and Rainbow Chaser. Will try and make the car as secure as possible and hope for the best. We traveled through Hungary and Croatia last year and never felt worried about car security. Perhaps it was a case of ignorance being bliss!

if your car has the steering wheel on the uk side it is most unlikely to be stolen ..it's a bit like putting on a sticker saying STOLEN

there are some uk type cars in poland , but they are mostly old and cheap according to a polish friend
