Default Aire Nr Cherborg

Crossing on Sunday 29 Nov from Poole to Cherborg and will get to France at 6pm.

Have not been to Cherbourg for a few years, but we used to stop just outside the dock gates. There is a carpark used by MH and Cravans. There are toilets and Showers (i think)

It is on the roundabout as you come out of the teminal grounds. The only problem we found was that it is quite noisey with freight transport driving past.

I agree with lunarman (I'm living close to Cherbourg), if you want to be more quiet, you can go to Le Becquet port (have you a GPS ?) it is a little and very nice port à 5 km from terminals, but not shower, no toilets.

Default Cherbourg

You can park outside the passenger terminal safely where the toilets etc are available. Most during the summer months use the far end of the terminal car park but during quieter periods near as you can get to the terminal.
The main reason for not using the far end is the question of many illegal immigrants using the top end toilets adjacent to the parked vans. As most will tell you their 'camp' is only just across the road.
We, on our many trips this way tend to do about 2 hours driving to Mont san Michel service area and stay overnight outside the cafe doors and under the lights, not near the lorries or at the back of the cafe. Used this place more than a dozen times and allows us the following day to reach the Spanish border, without pay M/W's, without killing ourselves.
Good luck on your trip, just got back again from Spain. Posted photos of Bielsa tunnel run to see.

Hi

Many years ago you were allowed to park on the marina carpark. We could see them from our boat!
Last summer when we arrived we couldn't find anywhere - then we followed a MH onto the Cite de la Mer carpark which is adjacent to the marina and 300yds from ferry terminal, there are no services, it was free and we felt perfectly safe.

Head for Cite de la Mer, well sign posted, follow carpark as far as you can toward end of sea wall.

As I have said this was last summer, but the were loads of vans on there and we stayed another night on way homw to do pet passport bit.
