Hi Has anyone noticed lately when you go to a campsite and you didnt prebook you cant get a hardstanding for love nor money its about time that small light caravans were made to use the grass, more so if being pulled by a four x four, dont get me wrong i have nothing against caravans but when i had one and wanted to use a h/stand i was always told no they are for motorhomes, these days you cant go touring unless you pre book all your sites/ wheres the fun in that. john.

Hi, I think you are being lucky if you ARE managing to book hardstanding when you advance book which is what you imply is your experience. I have found (with the Caravan Club) that you cannot specifically book hardstanding when you prebook. You can only say that you would like it..... and the general answer you get is that you can have it if it is available when you arrive....they will not hold it for you specifically.

Personally, I don't like hardstanding pitches at all. When I go on holiday I like the fell of the grass under my feet, literally. However, the 'other half' likes hard standing pitches as she does not like grass being trod in. If the decision was up to me, I would chosse a grass pitch every time.
