Default Weight of motorhome on normal driving licence?

Hi, thanks for all the information re what you must have when travelling to Spain, could anyone give advice as to how we can make sure we are not over the weight limit?

Our motorhome unladen weight is 3,500 kilo, can anybody tell me what weight we can drive on a normal driving licence?

Mike

Are you sure the UNLADEN weight is 3.5T. If you have catagory C1 on your license you can drive upto 7.5t but the vehicle must be built to carry the extra weight. Most Euro motorhomes are built to the 3.5t max weight restriction so check before you go overloading it.

Default European Medical Form???

Right, I have checked the specification and it gives us a maximum user payload of 552 kg. We have had an awning and solar panel fitted, so I guess that will bring it down a bit.

It does not leave us a lot, if we have to count ourselves and the 2 dogs! We thought we would stock up with goodies but I think we will have to be much more careful now!

Thanks for your help.

Oh by the way, do you know the name, or URL, of the medical form you need to complete in order to obtain medical services in EU.

You know this site is great, We have found more information from here than anywhere else - thanks again.

What about this 'green card' what are they for and where do we get one?

Do we have to have an international driving licence, or will the nromal uk one do?

Green cards you get from your insurance company (usually charge you for it as well!!). A UK driving license is valid anywhere in Europe and in most other parts of the world as well.

Hi Teasy

You may find the following link useful, hope this helps in some way

I have been told that a green card is not necessary for travel in Europe. Is this true ?

i think you were unlucky as my brother in law IS spanish and he carries an old pair of glasses in the glovebox.
he has a restricted licence because of his poor eyesight(restricted to 100kph in good light and doesn't drive in the dark) and because of this he does get stopped and checked but just produces the old ones and he's on his way.
he didn't see a police motorcyclist with blue lights and a white gloved, raised hand driving on OUR side, at 300mts distance, stopping traffic on a straight, level road. scary!!!!!
i drove after that.
