Default Inverters

While out driving my car saturday i wanted to run a portable cd player.
So i pluged the 150w inverter in the cigarette lighter socket and was driving around.

The cd player started going off all the time. Until in the end it would 'nt work no more. ( cd player just clicking )

I swithched the engine off and tried it again and it worked .

Should i only use the inverter while the engine off or can i use it while driving ?

Dont know whether i've damaged the inverter or not by using it while driving

I use my 150w inverter whilst driving, I'm only using it for charging a mobile phone usually so the load is different but mine does not seem to have a problem...

The output of an inverter will vary depending on the input DC volts ..

Typically 10 - 15 vdc input giving 210 - 230 vac output so there is no reason not to use while driving when the input will be around 14.4 vdc

Problems running desk fans and charging toothbrushes on modified sine wave have been reported, so it's possible your disc player doesn't like modified waveforms..
