Near Orgiva in the Alpujarra mountains in Spain there are 2 or 3 hippie communes. The residents had a motley collection of converted vehicles - most of these were fitted with wood-burning stoves.
One camper on our site,with a Mercedes van, decided it was a good idea and I watched him get the tin snips out, cut a hole in his roof and fit the stove. The white smoke issuing from the roof was of Papal-announcing proportions but he loved it - it was like a sauna in there.
